One of my recent finds is this plastic-handled wood chisel. The handle is identical to a couple of Stanley-branded chisels I have, except the Stanley ones are clear, and this one is dark blue. The markings on this one is the same as the clear Stanley chisels, but this is unmarked on the other side. No Stanley brand, just "wood chisel" the patent number and "Made in U.S.A." The patent number is D229,282. It refers to this, https://patents.google.com/patent/USD229282S/en?oq=us+d229282, "chisel handle or the like", granted 11/20/1973 and assigned to the Stanley Works.

Have any of you ever seen one of these unmarked chisels made by Stanley, or have any idea why they were blue and unmarked?

Because they sold them to other people to resell as a checkout line generic tool? Didn't want them traced back to Stanley?

I have similar shaped chisel handles in clear / red (handle poking out of picture bottom), and it is pretty much the bottom of the barrel I would pick up at a garage sale. The blade on the one you have pictured looks much worse, flat stamped steel maybe?
