This thread will be dedicated to the seemingly impossible task of filling out a vintage tool set. I know as well as many collectors getting to the final stages of finishing out a set can be frustrating and seemly hopeless. With that being said I envision a fluid platform where a member can post his list of wanteds and just modify there posts with updates to keep the thread short. Also would be great to give shoutouts to members that have helped out. This is a reference tool to have save digging through constant posts in the wanted thread. Well let's try this experiment and adapt overtime.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrench 3061

I'm 4 nuggets shy of my 30-K Blackhawk set...just 4...listed in my signature line below.

I was more than half short until last week when a visit to Twertsy's Tool Temple got me within an inch of finishing out this set.

Olson: i'm not sure you saw the thread I started yesterday morning, but maybe between the two threads we'll turn some UNOBTAINIUM into finds and get them in the hands of those that would cherish them.

speaking of your Plvmb maybe you could post a few full size pics of your tool board showing the missing holes in it so others might know how to start their own?

cheers

Some UNOBTAINIUM is due to CANNOTAFFORDIUM. However, when I first joined GJ and started working through my stock for the Wanted thread, I discovered two more types of tools: DOESNOTEXISTIUM and WONTPAYMORETHANYARDSALEPRICEFORTHEMIUM. Mostly the latter, since the descriptions were often not complete: They included the "I'm looking for X tool," but left out the last part, "For next to nothing."

But, in all fairness, this is a completely different thread. So maybe I'll root through some of my stuff again.

If any of you come across the following this is all I want...

Interesting list. I think a lot of those would fall under the CANNOTAFFORDIUM, unless they happen to be looking for tools as well.

I'll play!

I'm forever looking for a "WESTERN" branded 1/2" drive extension, either 6" or 10". They are obviously a Duro/Indestro product but I think I possess the only set in existence. Even the good folks at Alloy Artifacts had not heard of the brand. It was my dad's set. I filled in a few gaps but just need a longer extension to consider it complete.

Just a helpful hint. Those of you saying "look in my sig", people using Tapatalk don't see your sig line. May want to type it out in the post.

Many thanks to the OP for beginning this thread. And a sincere thank you to the fellow user that reached out to me with some of what I am seeking. Pretty small and insignificant stuff compared to what I see others collecting. But I'm enjoying it.

I'm finding some very helpful and nice people on this site.

It is true most tool collectors do not want to spend alot. They are mostly working folks who are on a budget.

My unobtanium is Craftsman heritage badge Reed with swivel base, ideally 4.5". I think it's a 5186.

Surprisingly I've been able to find a lot of unobtaniums including Craftsman 05196, vari-slo and couple other cool things.

Here is a Barcalo wrench that I’ve been unable to find. The sizes are located on the raised pad. Please let me know if you run across one. The second picture is the rest of the collection.

I’ve been looking for an 11” example of an Irwin ink marked screwdriver with clear markings like this one owned by a collector in Tennessee. I need it for my onboard Jeep toolset. I lost out on one to my eBay nemesis in Las Vegas by only bidding $92.00 yesterday. I should have known better.

ALL: I just mentioned this on the plvmb thread, but maybe one of you might want to trade for another brand cause I need 1 inch Plvmb sockets or the 1 inch to 3/4 inch Plvmb ratchet extension. I might own 3 full sets of 3/4 inch Plvmb sockets, but can't say I own a 1 inch and I've got the one inch ratchet.

as far as unobtainium i've yet to see an 8 inch old made in USA vise that wasn't beat to **** so hoping to find one some day I can bring home.

Is this your missing 7/16?20191111_115302.jpg20191111_115255.jpg20191111_115249.jpg20191111_115244.jpg

I'm sorry. I hadn't looked at this thread in awhile. Thank you for responding. I was able to find the standard sockets I needed through these forums. I have found other things through the generous members here reaching out to assist another collector. Truly some very nice people using this site.

Thank you again and everyone else that is or has reached out to fellow GJ users. Good stuff.

Hi,
Great idea for a thread here.
My collector needs are probably pretty basic for you folks. I doubt they are super rare or actually Unobtainium.

Current focus:
I've started collecting Snap-on metric sockets that have those two black oxide bands. I believe they were produced in the early 1970s.
I found a complete set of 3/8 6 point shallows that is almost new in one shot.
That was easy.

Then I found a pretty well used set of 1/2 drive 12 points (almost complete) but for some reason there is no 10mm (the smallest they made I believe) and the last four or five - 28, 29, 30, 31, and I think these went up to 32.

1/4 drive I only have a 5mm and a 6mm so that's the next big hunt when my wallet recovers. Then maybe some 1/2 drive impacts from the same period.

The 1/4 drives I could use and probably the 10mm 1/2 drive but I don't really need those giant sizes but I thought it would be cool to have the complete set when I feel like I have all the others.

Eventually I'll finish cleaning up my 1955 boxes and put it all together.
I already started with removing the drawers.
Made a video about that for YouTube. Will continue the series as I go.
