I'm not sure if I'm the only one that is experiencing this or not...

I'm having an issue where the unread/new posts are acting weird for me. It seems that if I visit the site one day, and there are 20 threads with new/unread posts in them, if I don't visit them right then and there, the next time I visit the site, they have all been marked as read, so I am missing out on some amazing projects here.

On all the other forums that I visit, unless I click on the "Mark Forums Read" link the threads will stay as unread/new. So if there are 20 threads with unread posts in them, and I only have time to look at one or two threads, the other 18 or so will stay as unread until I click on the thread and read past where I last read. Otherwise they stay as unread.

I can't find a setting that might impact this, so just wondering if it's just me. I have this "issue" across multiple ISPs, multiple computers, multiple operating systems, and it's been like this ever since I joined a few years ago - but I finally decided to ask tonight.

Any ideas?

I'm experiencing exactly the same thing. Go away for 2 weeks, then come back and there's threads that were posted TODAY or an HOUR ago that don't show as "new" or "unread".

Cleared all my cookies/cache, logged out and back in. No joy.

Perhaps it's a little like HarbFreight. Just something that will ALWAYS be there.

I believe that when you click on the "New Posts" tab at the top, it only brings up the new posts since your last visit to GJ.

It's annoyingly frustrating. As UN4 points out, it means we miss a LOT of great posts/projects/topics. I can't imagine ANY forum software functioning in that manner on purpose. There is no logical reason for it to grow old in minutes or between visits.

Owners/Moderators/Gurus, please consider addressing this and setting the Unread/New Post parameters where they should be.

Should be is going to be where the site admin/owner thinks they need to be.

I just checked on a few other forums that I'm a member of, the new posts only go back a few pages, not since the last time I visited.

Maybe it will change when the site gets rehashed like HAMB ? Maybe not, I'd guess it might have something to do with data storage, bandwidth and everything else it takes to run a forum.
