Not all of us believe in said "next world". Yes material things can be replaced but when these material things are used to make your money, how are you to replace them if you cant make money per se? Not trying to start a religious debate, just saying taking someones livelyhood whether it be material or physical comes with consequences.
I've had stuff stolen and it sucked. Would I want to kill whoever did it? F... no. That would make me a bigger douche bag than him. I guess you have no issue being such.
I use tools to make my living. I keep three sets. One in the truck. A spare set. And a home set that could be used in the field if needed. Even if someone is an atheist material things are just material things. They don't out weigh someones life even a d-bag. Killing some one over such makes the killer much worse than the thief.

What if the guy stole your stuff, sold it used the money to get drugs and a gun, wanted some more drugs, armed robbed someone you cared about and killed them because they didn't get the money out fast enough?
Now, I present you with a gun and a time machine what are you going to do knowing what's going to happen (things like that happen everyday, usually several times daily).
Ever heard the phrase twisted logic? Seems like you'll use any excuse to do what is wrong.

I combat theft by not having anything worth stealing. Well wouldn't be worth the effort trying to resell it when you wouldn't get that much. But I guess that only prevents theft rings, probably the average druggie would go to the effort to make less than $100 off something.

Ive worked all my life for the things I have, and the extensive tool collection thats means a lot to me. For someone to come and take all of that from me means taking my lively hood. All I can say for the thieves is that they sure as hell better hope the cops find them before I do. Thats whats wrong with this world today. They used to hang horse thieves, now they hide behind the system of laws that protect the criminals more than the good working people.

Doesn't seem to have anything to do with tools or this discussion. By your logic anyone who stole a potato or an apple during the Depression should have been shot. A teenager steals a $3 hammer? Shoot em! Honestly I see zero logic in your post.
When I worked at a marina, me and the other mechanics would occasionally lend tools to one another as any good friend did. At the end of the day I would always organize my tools, lock my, and return any tools I borrowed. One mechanic seemed to be borrowing my tools too frequently. But mysteriously everytime I asked for them back they were "misplaced" or "dropped in the water". After about two ratchets, four screwdrivers, my beloved Robogrips, and other misc. tools, I became suspicious and didn't let him borrow any tools without my supervision. While he was out to lunch he left his tote on the bench and I happened to glance over and notice one of my ratchets with the name "Mike" written in shapie on it over my engraving. I took it back and confronted him when he came back and asked where my other tools that he "dropped" were. He said he didn't have any but I didn't buy it. Looked in his toolbox and sure enough, my tools with engravings and everything were there with "Mike" written on them. Never lent a tool again...

LOL. NO where did I say that but apparently you would rather shoot everybody even if they are innocent than possibly lose a ratchet. Knee jerk reactionism in my opinion.

Just quit now before this goes downhill. Obviously people on here are not raging killers, but it seems the general consensus on this thread is that thieves get off WAY too easy for the crimes they commit. If punishments were harsher, stealing/robbing would decrease for sure.
Apparently you haven't read this thread. Post after post says kill any one who steals something. That is the definition of a raging killer. No one said make punishment harsher. Now you are just making things up.

It has everything to do with this discussion and proves you logic function is malfunctioning. The story is about a thief helping himself to things that do not belong to him and then murdering an innocent 14-year-old girl who walked in on him.
This isn't the first time this murderous scumbag stole something, had be been killed during his last theft 14-year-old Kelli O'Laughlin would still be alive. Now I know you'd like to give the killer a big hug and make everything better but I'm telling you it won't work, never has, never will. I'd rather see a million thieves killed than one Kelli O'Laughlin.
Not at all, if things are bad I'd give someone an apple or potato. You wouldn't believe the amount of food my SO gives to the "poor" and "needy". Nor would you believe some of the assholes that come to pick it up and the **** they pull.
Depends on many many factors, is this a home or a store, is he armed (teenagers kill people out this way everyday), is he 13 or 17, how big is he, is it even a he.....???
It wouldn't bother me to hear a teenage punk was shot robbing a place.
I can tell you a sure fire way for all teens to avoid being shot while taking something that doesn't belong to them, don't steal.
You need to see an eye doctor then, it's right there in front of you.

Always gets a bit too serious on here, I think this thread was just an outlet for people who have have had stuff stolen and dream of revenge.
I dont think thieves should be shot dead, but I enjoy it when criminals get some instant justice. I think they understand that better than due legal process

And I don't disagree with that. What I do disagree with is vigilante justice and knee jerk thinking.
You have to prove ebay "knowing" allowed stolen goods to be sold.
