Unusual Line Wrench

I found a 15/16" 12-point line wrench today that was made for a special application. The working end is hook-shaped, and is also angled. It has the number 257459-4 stamped on the round shank. No other markings that I can find. It is quite sturdy, and appears to be well made.

Does anyone recognize this one?

Probably a specialty wrench not a line wrench. I have some odd ball wrenches that just have a number on them that were made for specific applications, like Ford motor mount bolts that the wrench let you change the motor mount without having to remove the a/c compressor. Probably made by Kent Moore or OTC or another of the specialty tool makers.

Looks like an offset box wrench that was cut. A real line wrench would be much thicker.

It is indeed a line wrench, or made for similar service. It has a factory cut-out to clear a tube or control cable, or something else. I can tell this because the plating is the same on the surfaces of the opening as it is on the rest of the wrench.

If you look at the forging, it is reinforced where the "box" end meets the handle, and in such a manner as to support the area on the outside of that corner. Clearly, it was made in the form it is now. The uniform plating also supports this conclusion.

It looks like I listed the wrong part number. It is 257458-4.

I find that there is a Navy wrench associated with "guns more than 30MM up to 75MM" that is a part number 257458PC4. I haven't found more information yet, but a smaller wrench 257458PC3 has a 7/8" opening and a similar bend.
