Unusual Shelf

I would like to know if you can help me figure out what this was for. Was told it came from a school metal shop. Have looked at tons of pictures and haven’t seen one. Wondering if maybe they made it? Could have had a mirror or something at the top? The mounts on the side might be for soap dispensers?

Those triangular reinforcement pieces on the bottom shelf seem like they should be on the rear instead of the front. Outside of that piece at the top that makes it look like it was a display for some product, the construction is pretty much the same as those cheap knocked down shelving units you buy at the big box store.

I'm guessing it was an item intended for some other use and repurposed for use in the shop long ago.
