Does anyone have any idea what this socket set is

It appears that no one can identify when and who made this set, it has beaten us

Are the sockets marked with sizes? If so, are they Metric or Imperial? The design of what appears to be a ratchet looks unique, I am guessing that the set may be Very Old.

Yeah, Old or maybe even Very Old is what it is. What brand or what they're for I have no clue.

Nothing at all marked on or in the box?

Approximately where are you, or where were these tools found? For example, sometimes stuff like this will turn up in cities with a large military base in WWII.

What size is the square drive (or maybe it should be called pyramid drive)? Any other tools or items that came with this set?

There are no markings on the sockets indicating size or anything on the box for a maker. It might have been a painted motif. The shaft on the sockets are 1/2 tapering to 7/16.
The only markings are on the drive ‘Patent DRGM’ which I have found out denotes German pre 1945.
