Malco is selling everything at their former Eagle Grip factory in DeWitt, NE on May 23. You can check out the auction catalog here: https://www.bidspotter.com/en-us/au...-presti1-10002/search-filter?CategoryCode=SUT Most of the stuff looks pretty new... and it probably is. The factory wasn't open that long. The print catalog is also attached. Sincere apologies to anyone who was hoping this auction would fly under the radar.

I feel bad for the people of DeWitt. It's one thing to lose the Irwin factory; it's another thing for a small rural community to be offered the chance to reclaim the thing that put it on the map and offered good jobs. Alas, I think that the vast majority of Americans aren't willing to pay $40 for MUSA locking pliers.

I'm just more curious how a guy joins in '13 and his first posts are 10 years later haha

As mentioned in the other thread - most of the stuff isn't new. Most of it is actually pretty disturbingly old for a "new" factory. Looks like Malco probably bought everything from the same surplus equipment auction places the equipment is on, now. All of the major "production" machinery from the CNC machines to the forging equipment ranges from ~15-50 years old. The only "new" equipment seems to be the heat-treating stuff and the air compressor. Let's not even mention the piles of Harbor Freight & Summit Racing hand & power tools everywhere.

You see stuff like this

...and you really got to wonder what the heck they were doing. Clearly not maintaining their equipment, that's for sure. ...and if they bought that machine in that condition, they clearly weren't going out of their way to buy well taken care of equipment.

It really seems like the Eagle Grip plant was on a really shoe-string budget and this overall was a half-hearted attempt a "new" factory. Maybe the rumors of them losing their hats on high defect rates were true... I don't know how big Malco is as a company, but perhaps they bit off more than could chew? Just seems absolutely absurd to throw in the towel after being in production for barely over a year.

An old surface grinder is still a surface grinder, but I agree - that shows they had really ****** maintenance.

From what I know from my workplace, sadly, finding good maintenance workers nowadays is also incredibly hard and sometimes you have to work with what you have.
