Sorry about the multiple posts with pics. Damn iPad! Anyway, posted a while back that I saw a few U.S. made Ideal tools in an area next to the South wire stuff. They've now got more of it alongside the Southwire. Just posting the pics and price comparisons. This is in Mobile, Alabama.

There are more but I don't wanna spam the thread. Anyways, most were a buck or 2 more than the Southwire but a couple were a buck cheaper.

I never heard of that South Wire brand until seeing it in Lowes.. No idea where they came from, or why it's so expensive for a no named brand.
Word is it's garbage, and it certainly looks it. I have a steel fish tape of theirs, I don't know why I haven't tossed or repurposed it yet.

It's because Lowe's thought people wouldn't know better. Let's put tools on the shelves that are China made blatant Klein knock offs and then charge Klein prices. No one will know the difference. Because we will put a USA made wire brand name on them.

Then they found out the majority of people buying the electrical tools were professionals. So that's why Ideal and Fluke is back on the shelves.

Little off topic but now I think I feel like an idiot. Was damn sure it was Home Depot I saw interesting tools at, but if you can find Fluke at Lowes then it was Lowes I was at and not Home Depot. Glad you made this thread and now I can quit feeling like an idiot in Home Depot because I can't find those tools. :lol_hitti

The funny part is that Southwire actually makes some decent wire and cable...they have bought quite a few companies like Tappan and Coleman Cable in the past few years.
I would not use any of those tools if they were given to me for free :p

I'm aware of everything that you posted and agree totally. With the popularity of mobile devices, more and more things are being done via them. It'd be nice if the pic uploader was updated to work correctly for tablets, phones etc. so that you didn't have to load images to the PC just to post multiples in one post.

Difference between Southwire, and South Wire. A common marketing strategy; the uninitiated won't recognize or understand the difference.

needed to buy a meter for the wifes house, found this brand and then promptly went to the other box store for a klein. items look cheap but pricing didn't seem to reflect quality. pure **** was my general thought.

Exactly. No one uses a freaking computer anymore. And I'm on other forums that I have no problems loading multiple pics.
