Updated work tools/box/cart

I've posted my work tool box in the past, but since I added a used KRL1001A in Black and took some of the Kennedy pieces home I'd figured I throw up some pics.

The KRL, I'm presently awaiting new drawer liners and brushed drawer guards from my Snap On guy. I have the new top from Ikea that I need to cut and mount, so hopefully next week I'll get all of it in and installed.

Top drawer, I threw the two new Craftsman 3/4" drive sets in there as place holders for the Proto 3/4" sets that I need to bring in, since all of the sockets in that drawer are Protos (except for the Craftsman 3/4):

My very first cordless drill, 7.2 volt Makita that I bought in 1982, it still works so I keep using it.

I bought two of those $59.99 Gearwrench 20 pc sets at Sears, and then filled in the gaps and larger sizes with $175 worth of Gearwrenches from Menards (lowest price I've found, including on-line vendors)

Looks good, I still wish I would have bought a KRL 1001a instead of a 1022, I think I'm the only person who doesn't like the second full width drawer. I always saw the KRL 1001a as the perfect tool box. Post a full picture of the Kennedy!

Nice box/tools. Two questions:

1. I know this has been asked before in another thread, but I didn't see the answer. Where did you get that pliers rack?

2. You didn't buy the GW from Lowes recently, did you? I don't believe ours carries them anymore and it's no longer on the website, but it seems you bought them when you bought the 20-piece deal? I bought the 20-piece, and I bought a couple GW individuals when Lowes was clearancing them at the same time they went to the non-USA tools, but I haven't seen them since?

I bought the 20pc sets at Sears, and the 6mm, 7mm, 9mm, 11mm, 19mm, 1/4", 11/32", 13/16" and 7/8" wrenches (two of each) at Menards. The three stores to me locally all have Gearwrench

Oh sorry, for some reason I thought you had said they came from Lowes.

I've seen the GW singles on the revolving rack, didn't realize they were decently priced... will have to fill in!

Plyworx is a manufacturer of those racks, I got mine off the Mac truck but you can find them online as well.

Thanks to the info I found the pliers rack is a Plyworx PLR30, available for $15 from eBay, but it's also carried by Northern Tool/etc. This will make my pliers drawer look a LOT more organized

I noticed you have a dewalt 12v max inspection camera. Which head does it have on it? How do you like it? I just bought 4 of the dewalt 12v max tools. The camera is next on my list.

So what is your take on the folding yellow "Toughbuilt" folding bolt cutters?

Saw those the other day and fell in luv even for the $40, but they look like Romex cutters and not really heavy duty "bolt cutter" deals. China COO but look like a neat idea for a travelling box.

You are correct I did incorrectly list Lowes first, then edited to reflect Menards which is where I bought them.

I have the DeWalt 12V Max infrared thermometer, my Fluke stays in my truck. I will be getting the DeWalt 12V Max inspection camera but not for a few months, since I've tapped my tool budget in the last 30 days I've spent over $5K. I do have the Harbor Freight inspection camera that I bought with the 20% off coupon for $72 and can report that it works great.

I do still want to thoroughly check out the new Bosch PS90 inspection camera and the Milwaukee M:Spector cameras, but none so far except the DeWalt has the removeable display. I have large hands and the DeWalt 12V Max grip is a litle tight, were as the Milwaukee M12 and the Bosch 12V grips are open ended thus no crowding of the fingers when using these brands.

So far they've worked well, but I've only cut about a half dozen crappy locks that employees have left on their lockers and a few 1/4-20 bolts that were grade 2 or lower. I love that they don't take up much room, my old large American made bolt cutters (bought in 1984) now reside in my job box.

The drawer guards are actually the set for the KRL1022 and I'll have to cut the guard for the second full length drawer to make the two I need for the narrower drawers. The price was $262 plus tax. Those and the drawer liners came to $467 including tax.

As to the installation I'm not yet sure as that I didn't ask the Snap On dealer, I figured I'd cross that bridge when I get to it. I'm hoping that I do have to remove the existing drawer trim as that much of them have dents and dings in them.

I'm going to be bringing in my Milwaukee buffer and will be going over the whole outside of the box and drawers. The back and right side of the box are flawless, the left side has a few decent scratches. The slide drawer cover on the upper left narrow drawer is all scratched up as that one of the previous owners used it as their cutting surface. The box did have a few large stickers on the front of the drawers and on the left side, but a heat gun and some acetone took care of those.
