We moved into our house in May 2008. Owning one classic car (64 impala) and having plans to add another we quickly out grew the 2 stall attached garage. That fall/winter we built a detached 3 stall garage. Which we are filling up rapidly now that we purchased my wife's 69 camaro and have projects going on both of our cars. Someday I'm sure we'll add some more space. For now we're going to clean it up and get organized.

When we built our detached we did not paint the interior. We decided to get it painted this weekend. Next week the attached is getting taped, textured, and painted as well. We finished moving everything from our detached over to our attached tonight. Here are a few pics.

Here's a couple from back when the dettached was being built. We added some concrete to the driveway as well.

I'll post up some new interior photos after we make some progress.

Thanks for the pics! I don't know which I prefer - the cars or the garage space! Keep posting pics as you make progress (car & garage!).

Thanks guys!

Here are a couple more pics of the cars. The Impala was my first car and has been a project ever since. I bought a new/used frame for it that is getting sand blasted and powder coated this week. I hope to get some real progress on it this winter. We purchased the Camaro last December. It was supposed to be "ready to go" but had engine issues from the start that led to a built 468. After that it snowballed into a lot more. :) I'll post up more pics as some of the projects get completed.

thats a lot of property what state you from?
1.28 Acres of Iowan soil.

Why build the detached so far from the house?
Septic tank to the West of my house and the land falls off fast on the East. Backyard borders a golf course… It just looks right when you’re standing on the property looking at it and it gave me an excuse for some extra concrete for parking. Our house is at the end of our development and has a 1/2 mile gravel driveway which is not getting paved for a couple years.

BBC/5spd Camaro? That looks like fun.
Yes and Yes!!! :bounce:

I'll tackle the floors someday after our "major" car projects are done and the road to our house gets paved.

We also moved our "stuff" back into the detached tonight. (no pics) Our drywall guy starts in the attached tomorrow.

Hung some blinds in our detached garage tonight. It's still a mess since everything is piled in here from the garage. Our drywall guy is sick so no progress on the attached yet.

I noticed you have two of the Electric Dayton Heaters, are they keeping it warm enough inside? I have 900 square feet with one heater but I'm not completly satisfied on how warm it gets in a short amount of time. I was considering buying another to see if that helped, just wondering how yours preforms. Great build!!

I have no complaints on them. I keep both thermostats a little above 40 in the winter. When I go work out there I'll turn them up to 60-65. After about 10 minutes I'll take my jacket off and just work in a long sleeve t-shirt.

They are Berko HUH-524SA 5kw units.

Awesome garage and amazingly gorgeous '69 Camaro!!!!

Thanks! I'm usually a passenger in the Camaro. But I'm just glad my wife is as crazy about cars as I am! This winter we're updating the brakes, rear end, rear suspension, and adding AC. Right now we're getting our workspace better organized before we tear into it.

Nice Camero but that Impala really does it for me!

She needs a lot of work and updating but I'm starting back on it this winter after the camaro projects. I just picked up my new/used frame from the powder coater yesterday.

Looking good I love your cars. Do you work on them with jacks only?

Thanks! Yep, so far with jacks and jack stands only. They will work for the Camaro rear end and suspension. I need to figure out how to handle swapping the Impala body on to the new frame eventually.

I may have missed it, but what motor is in the Impala?

Nice work on the shop, too.

The mower, snowblower, grill, and bikes will be moved to the attached garage when it's done. This will give me some room to tackle our car projects this winter.
IMG_5433.jpg

Our attached garage has been taped and textured. I have to do some trim work around a walk door and a couple windows yet. Paint should be done by next weekend.
