Upgrading a service panel

Hello, I lease a 30X40 shop, been there almost four years. The building was new when I arrived. The main panel is a 125Amp service. I want to add at least two 220 runs closer to the overhead door. One for a welder and the other for a diesel fired pressure washer.

I plan to install a rotary phase converter(60amp) to run a 3ph air compressor also. Would I gain anything by going to a 200amp service? I don't pay for electricity so I'm only out parts/labor. Thanks Shawn

Upgrading the panel is easy, its the incoming lines from the meter, and possibly the lines from the transformer to the meter, will be make or break the deal.

If the power company supplied the building with a feed capable of 200 amp and a 200 amp meter to begin with, all you are looking at is the panel and service entrance cable from the meter to it.

You need to see what you have now in the case of wire sizes and meter.
