Upgrading air compressor filter: use one or two?

So I have a husky AC and it has that cheap wire mesh/filter/wire mesh sandwich filter that slides into a slot in the head. Pretty much useless. Anyway, I'm going to add a solberg filter. Should I add two smaller ones or just use one larger?

The AC flows around 12 cfm, so I'd add two small 12cfm filters or just one larger 30cfm. Would adding two help get more air in per-se or no? I know more cfm on a filter means more flow but does it matter much to have two...

Hope it makes sense what I'm asking

I've never even changed my filter and its over five years old. Last time I checked it was still cleanish. That's an auto and fab shop. Fairly dirty place. No climate control doors usually open.

I have a pleated filter on mine for 20 yrs and cant even tell it isn't new. I have another comp was all plugged up when I got it, must have been in the same room as sanding and spraying gobs of primer. I am not sure how long it took to get that way but it had to be substantial.
At this moment don't do anything, clean it if it is dirty. This sounds a little like it may be your first comp etc and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you aint got to do everything you read about on the internet to it. Some of the ideas are good, some good in other places, most don't really hurt but don't do much either.
One I like is to plumb the drain to a convenient place.

Well i mean this filter material looks like the cheap filters found in HVAC systems. Think the blue or green stranded filters, very thin and you cna see thru them.

It wont hurt anything to put a better filter on. They just don't run in the same environment and volume a car does, all the fine road dirt is very abrasive, the comp is only pulling a little air, the same you breathe. Put a dust mask over it and see how long it takes to look dirty.

The best ones I have seen where car intake adaptions.
Bigger, high volume filters, but more important they did a lot to silence to compressor.
