Upgrading my fly fishing reel

Fly fishing is too expensive for what you get. If you spend good money on a quality fly reel, it should have quality parts.

I'm not a zealot in this way of thinking, I'm just using it as an excuse to play with my mini-lathe using some of God's metal (Titanium).

Gonna build me the world's finest fly reel handle using titanium and bronze. The pictures are self-explanatory:

Nice! But for me, I got to keep the plastic knob. February steelie fishing is too cold to hold onto alloys.

Nicely done! Nothing wrong with making up some cool bits and pieces just for kicks. What did the Titanium set you back?

Thanks! Don't know what the Ti costs exactly. It's usually $35/ft for 1/2" round bar, retail, but I got lucky in finding the scraps for cheap from a local metal supplier. Ebay is the next best source for cheap Ti.
