What's up guys. So I have been shopping the web for a new to me three bay tool box and came across a Krl 1023. Guy was asking 7,000 and I offered 5,500 and he said deal. Seems like a good deal box is in great shape and has the stainless steal top and drawer covers.

I have a krl 722 with a bluepoint 4 drawer cart now. I figure I buy this 1023 and sale my old box and cart and hope to maybe get 4K and only be out of pocket 1,500.

Is it worth it. I don't know anyone with the 1023 and it's seems to be a good size box. Prob let the last one I ever buy. Just want to get some opinions.

I attached photos of my setup and the new box.

Both are great set-ups.

The yellow is impressive; eye popping.

You'll have a tough time getting $4k for a 722. I paid $2400 delivered for mine, with top.

You will like the extra deep drawers(29")
Like the poster above said, you might have a hard time getting that amount for your KRL722.
I would have offered $3500 for the 1033.
Good luck with the new box,it looks nice and clean

Not to burst your bubble but 722 are always for sale and $4k is gonna be a stretch. I'd think you'd be more in the $2-3k area depending on shape.

I picked up my 1022 for $2250 and it was the newer style withe the isocasters...i would say u might get $1500-$2k for yours. When i was shopping around i couldn't justify the near double the cost for a tripple vs double bank

That's crazy. It must be the areas. Out here all the three bank boxes are listed for 7-8k and the 722 are listed at 4-4,500 and I talk to a guy couple weeks ago on craigslist that had the same box as mine and he sold for 3500. So I guess we will see what happens.

To be honest with you, the Snap On Rock N Roll Cab Express truck was selling new KRL1023s a little over a year ago in the basic colors for ~$5600. The matching stainless steel top was $500. If you bought both, you got a $500 tool truck credit. My dealer sells new 722s regularly for ~$3000.

Where you live, the prices may be higher.

I like my 1023 except the bottom drawers are so tall they waste space for me, I'll replace them with some different sizes at some point.

Rock n roll cab came by my shop last summer but they must not have been too eager to sell & wouldn't budge off retail for a guy that was looking at a 1033 or 68" epiq. Our driver has a used 1023 or 33 on his truck for 4000. I've seen my old driver sell a repo 722 that was like new for 2400. Used ones around here are usually around 2000. Then again I've heard the prices in ca are higher so op might get what he's looking for.

To be honest, I think your prices are high. I'm in San Francisco and I watch the asking prices on these boxes a lot (just in case).

I bought my mint 1023 with stainless top for 4k. It was in Daly City. It was a pretty good, but not unheard of, deal...I've seen several since at that price and one at 3.5k. 722s seem to trade often in the 2-3k range (they're also much more common than the 1023, so supply drives prices down).

If you have the patience, and a way to get out of the purchase, I think you'll find the same setup within a year for 4-4.5k, which might take the sting out of the offers you get on the 722.

With that said, I love the 1023 as a box, but I am tall. If you are under 6 feet the 7023 may be a better height to keep the top usable. Also, nature abhors a vacuum, and I found that once I was into the 1023 I filled every nook and cranny pretty quickly. Mine is in home use so I have the circular saw and mapp gas bottles in the tall drawer and no space is wasted.

I also hung a KRL1011 off the side when I'd filled the big box, and that allowed me to get OCD organized without crowding. Probably the setup I'll own forever.

Until an affordable PowerCab locker comes my way...

Another vote for you're crazy if you think you'll get $4k for yours... might get $3k with the top, if you find someone who really wants a yellow one. Probably closer to $2500... sell it soon if that's still the plan, put it out there while someone has tax refund bucks burning a hole in their pocket.

I got a damn good deal on my 722 @ $2700 new, and probably could've bought one for 4 grand almost any time. I've also been offered new 1023s for less that $5500, but I never pursued them any because I didn't have that much space, or money. Personally, I like the lower top height and 24" depth... enough that when I found a side chest for it for $1k I jumped on it. Retail on that is like $2k, you could probably talk your way into $1500 on one and have a shallower, shorter triple bank.

Thanks for everyone's opinion. I'm going to list it for 4 and let people make there offers and go from there. I would be happy if I got 3 but we will see what happens. And maybe I can get 400 for the cart. Thanks once again.

Yellow will be a hard sell. Not very many people want that color, but those who do will pay more for it.
I would list that box for $3000. Take anything over $2300. I've had a few.
