Can't find any upholstery ppl. on here. Need help choozing foam for an auto seat. Was looking at 50# compression, 1.4 density for a seat cushion. Have seen many choices to choose from. What range?

50 might be stiff.
I just redid the seats for my 68 Fury. I used high density foam (1.8) with 44lb compression for bottoms and high density / 36lb compression for backs. Feels not too stiff, not too soft. I also used Dacron over the foam to make the covers look nice and inflated.

I've been using this combo for years. Holds up very well, dacron does help the feel and appearance. Good luck with your project, Mike.
