I personally wouldn't buy either of those brands, but would prefer the combo setup vs two lowers. Bending over all the time gets old quick.

Have you checked Craigslist for used truck boxes? I'd take a used 25 year old Mac box over a brand new Husky. Actually, I have....

I think your math is off on the HF 44" boxes, or you know something I don't.

I have two lowers and what gkdoctor3 said is right...it ***** bending over a lot. a workbench made out lowers is best if you dont have the space for a workbench and a 52" stack

all depends on how much floor/wall space you have.

personally, i never liked using the top of a roller cab for a workbench, but to each his own....

all 4 of my roller cabs have top boxes on them.

$359 on the website. 20% coupon brings it down to $288 each. $576 plus tax for 2. Unless they won't let you use a 20% coupon on them?

Yeah. Nothing under 2k used here. Wish I could afford something nicer, but I can't at the moment or in the foreseeable future and I need to get my tools organized NOW.

The harbor freight is a solid box but I like the layout of the husky box better. The price is now back to 598. It has plenty of drawers and its not so tall that you need a stool to reach the top. I hoping they go back down to 498 for fathers day.

Our HD has them at $498 regular price. I Know it's not the best box, but I'm pretty sure it will meet my needs

Storage cabinets, chests, and carts are excluded from the 20% off coupons. I assume that refers to the toolboxes.

I would go for bottom boxes as top space for resting tools and parts etc is very handy.
If pack boxes smartly yoi don't need bend much and can see everything in drawers easier than top boxes .
All personal preference plus need bottom box that around 1mtr height. HF boxes on offers a lot, had special coupon for them week ago check relevant thread. HF not a bad buy at rock bottom sale pricing (same for all cheaper boxee, smart buy when at lowest sale prices). 60" husky cabinet could be option and as has greater depth stores a lot of tools .

Between the 2 I would go with the hf. far better construction. plus as you fill them up you can add the 7 drawer side cab and a locker.

I am a fan of single roller chest's i guess thats why i have three of them. this also gives you the ability to use the top as a bench.

Go for the 2 HF 44s. If your not too picky the hotdeals section occasionally has a deal on top chests especially when the top chest at HD for example has no perfectly matching bottom roller cabinet.

HF does not allow coupons on tool boxes. Written right on the coupon

Several members have made VERY nice benches on top of HF roller cabs.

(thanks Steevo)

I have two Husky 52 bottoms and love them:

You can buy just the lower for ~$300 online, check out the HD website. I had to buy mine as combos and sell off the top boxes as I prefer the Vietnamese made boxes vs the Chinese made.

Personally I like 2 bottom rollers then top/bottom setup. It all depends on garage space you have. If you have the space then go with twin 44s with work tops but if don't have the space go vertical with a top/bottom setup.

If you are patient enough you can get a nice USA box on local ads. I was ready to pull the trigger on a 56" hf box. Ended up finding a nice Lyon 54" box on offer up, full 25" deep 380$. None of these import boxes hold a candle to the stoutness of the box I found.
Glad I kept searching.

If my area is any indication, you're going to have to be REAL patient, for like YEARS, before a decent box comes up in the $600 neighborhood.

If the two options you presented were my only option, I'd go with the (2) HF 44" cabinets over the HD/Husky.

As has already been mentioned, you can't use 20% coupons on tool boxes.

You can, however, use this one:

http://www.hfqpdb.com/coupons/9_ITE...AL_QUALITY_ROLLER_CABINET_1485352354.1106.jpg

$340/each is the best deal to be had on these so you're going to need to up your budget to $680 to accomodate.

What brand you buy should be determined by which drawer layout you need. Followed by your budget.

The used market is tough to find a good deal for the same amount of storage. In my area, nothing was in good enough shape to justify buying a truck brand over HF or HD. Most of it is simply over-priced, IMO. My HF 44" stores tools just as well as the truck brands at a fraction of the price. Buy new, you know what you're getting.

This summer I bought the hf 44 bottom while I was home from school. I liked having the lower with nothing on it but my parents surprised me with the top box for Christmas. I like having the upper and lower better I have a workbench so the lost surface space was not a big deal.
