UPS damaged my toolbox

Well I recieved a toolbox today I had purchased from eBay. It's a 6 draw snap on tool box ( top box). Well UPS damaged it. It looks like they dropped it right on the corner cause the back corner of the box where it meets the side of the box is almost folded. I was wondering what kind of shop could fix this? Do I try a regular powder coating place? Do they fix metal? I wouldn't care about the dent but I'm concerned that once my tools go in the weight will be too much. they say that 11 out of 10 times....even when the ups store packed it.....

Don't keep the box; go through the claims process. Make sure you keep the packaging for evidence.

I guess they all do. This week I've received three Priority flat rate boxes from USPS that all looked like they went thru hell. Part of the problem was marginal packaging and the flat rate boxes are a bit light, but still excessive force/lack of care by USPS was evident.

That *****, Bruce. UPS, like any large company, has good employees who care about their work and some who don't give a **** as long as they get their paycheck.

I would definitely do all that I could to make them make it right. If you can't, then a good auto body guy should be able to straighten it out for you and make the paint look decent.

As for the careless ****** who smashed your box, maybe he'll drop the next one on his toes

You can't put in a claim. The guy that shipped it has to, and unless it was "packed properly" (able to withstand a drop of 4 feet...) it won't be honored. How do you think UPS gets away with their trashy business model?

I don't see how something that weighs 75lb dropped from 4ft wouldn't be damaged even if if was packed in rubber

There is some truth to the "withstand a drop of 4 foot with no damage". I sold some Fiesta Ware for my girlfriends mother and had packed them myself, feeling satisfied with my job. I took it to a UPS store and the guy there said "no way, let me pack them for you"

It took him a good 30 minutes to finish the job but he came out and DROPPED MY PACKAGE FROM CHEST HEIGHT!!!! They made it there no problem but told me that UPS will deny every claim automatically, hoping you will go away if its going to be a hassle.

Go after them non-stop and you will get reimbursed for you damages. Its just gonna take some time.

I bought a cheapo Homak base cabinet from Amazon. The left front corner was smashed in a little. BB drawers all functioned correctly. UPS or Amazon damaged the packaging.

Packaging really sucked and I didn't really care because it was dirt cheap. Very thin styrofoam that was useless. I didn't even bother reporting it to either party.

Sorry to say but slim chance that you're going to get even the $100 covered.

A good whack from a 4lb sledgehammer to the corner is comparable to the amount of force that box saw if it were dropped from a height of a few feet.

Unless it was packed in a manner to sustain a 5' drop from a conveyor belt then go after the seller for improper packaging.

It should have been double boxed with a least 4" of padding on all sides.

UPS will deny the claim unless the packaging was to their standards.

Your comment made me laugh because of the implication you made.

The stuff was thrown around because college students were doing it, right? Because no one else working at that job would have done so, right, only college students?

The basic unwritten rule for shipping is to package an item to endure a 4 foot fall. I am very sorry your toolbox was damaged. I hope you get your money back.

Yes, this is what you will need to do. Took my father a while to get reimbursed on a neon beer sign but he was relentless.

The damage is pretty bad, good luck.
