Urethane a VCT?

Once spring hits here in South Dakota, I will be finishing my garage floor. At first I bought the peel and stick and thought a urethane coat over the top would do, but after reading some on here, it may not be such a hot idea.

Next option is VCT, but I would want a water tight seal, as winters here bring in snow, salt, and sand. I have a floor drain in each stall, so water movement over the tiles is inevitable. Has anyone put a one time clear coat (not wax) on their VCT floors? I would imagine that it would also seal in the color and not have the white tiles turn brown with tire wear. Any info is greatl appreciated.

People do this all of the time. Our applicators have done this to entire grocery stores. It is best to use a product that is free of solvents. You don't want solvent to get under the tile and dissolve the adhesive.

So you would use a urethane? Is there any other type of clear sealer that would work better?

No... I would NOT use a urethane unless the VCT was going to take alot of UV... In general, urethanes don't have the bondstrength of a good epoxy. The epoxy should be a cycloaliphatic...
