Urinal suggestions

I am remodeling the garage/shop/Harley party garage. I have a brand new urinal for free, any suggestions on partitions or how I should take care of privacy concerns. Should put walls up around it, it going in the back corner? I thought of building stall type enclosure, maybe shutters for doors?? thanks for the ideas!!

I always prefer a good bush in the back yard, that's the Harley driver way. It is going to smell, when the shop is closed up and hot, but hey what do I know? I piss in the back yard, saves on urinal cakes & the water bill.... LOL, I crack myself up some times.

I don't imagine smell would be an issue as long as it is cleaned regularly. Not like it's a public bathroom. Yeah, I don't think I'd bother with a urinal. I'd just go pee in the woods. A toilet would be handier.

I'd be more concerned with the splashing than the privacy issue. If it's going in the corner you could probably do one wing wall

If you must have this in you shop, put it in the corner, and use a piece of treated plywood of you choice for thickness. Or, just go outside and kill the weeds. I don't see your location, but in our garage we don't go inside just to pee even if it is winter. I live in an in town setting.

3 possible concerns:

Smell
Sound
Drips

To solve all three, create a small sound insulated room with a tiled floor and a floor drain. Your urinal will need a water supply line, drain line (Connect to main drain and also use for floor drain) and vent line.

Alternate plan if you want to live like some of the cavemen here:
Install on outside wall of building and run drain line far enough away that you can keep your shoes dry.

So, yesterday my ATV club had it's annual Ladies Ride. Typically, us boys hang back - except the ones who dress up in drag (been there done that, showed the pictures before someone outted me at work).

At lunch, while we were all having as nice chat, rotisserie chicken and a well deserved rest the lady organizing the event made a small speech to thank everyone etc. There were door prizes for the ladies and men who dressed up. Sure enough....she whipped out a Shewee (NIB) :willy_nil and explained to the ladies, many of whom were new to the sport, how useful they were since us guys just find a tree.

In my last home/garage shop I installed a urinal "in the corner"

Didnt really have many visitors and I am a bachelor, but when your
paying your water bill and your facing into the corner, nobody is seeing
anything.........privacy is not an issue..........get over it.

Never had any smell issues, after flushing

Before I got engaged, I had a per-marital negotiation, which won me the right to a future urinal. Even though later, more detailed, negotiations highlighted that I was expecting to put it on the wall next to the pool table and my wife assumed it would go in a bathroom - I relented on having one at all when I found out what a ***** they are to clean and keep from smelling. The last thing I want to do is be working in my garage/other area and smell my own yellow funk.

55gal barrel over head supplies water for flushing.


Plumbed to the gutter downspout underground drain. If you can't flush it, make sure to get one without a trap in the bottom, or you will have standing pizz all the time!

Privacy: Someone might be able to tell what I'm doing, but they would have to have awful GOOD eyes to see what I'm doing it with...

You can just see in the left hand corner of this picture some drywall in fornt of the black and yellow plastic box on the floor. Behind this is a toilet (you can see the light switch on the wall) This is in the basement/ground floor of my house in France and is used when we are outside although we have plans in the future for some conversion work and the plumbing is in place to turn this into a proper downstairs bathroom once I've divided it up with some proper walls. It was just knocked up with some spare metals studding and offcuts of drywall. The intention was to put up a curtain across the opening for more privacy but we've never needed to, we just have an "Occupied/Free" sign hanging on the outside now.

I have a semi privacy sheet in front of mine, you really dont notice it and cant see it from 90% of the building when someone is using it. It keeps a huge amopunt of traffic from the regular bathroom.

If your worried about privacy use the plywood. If you already have the china and it has the spud ( the brass piece with the rubber gasket) then you can find a self closing valve, which you will have to hold open, or a metering valve, which after pushed lets a pre determined about out. Either way central brass or jones Stephens corp should have one. Most plumbing house (not hd or lowes) should carry something. Keep it flushed and you shouldn't worry about smell

If you want privacy, use a simple shower rod and shower curtain. If you have water to flush it clean, put a simple lever valve a foot or two above it and open it for a few seconds to flush the area. Simple, easy, and no hassle.

So, how many guys have a problem with the toilet in their house stinking of piss?

I guess I just don't get that argument... unless you've got a shop full of people using it, and nobody flushes after peeing, it shouldn't smell at all.

As for privacy, mine isn't hooked up yet, but it's in a corner, and I have a wall of book cases, storage cabinets and bolt bins in front of it, partitioning it off from the rest of the shop. Form and function.
