Thought about posting this in the Tool Section since it is somewhat tool related but....

Looking for a urinal to hang on the wall...not a full size one...could be out of plastic or ceramic. Not to be plumbed to the outside...something that would drain into a catch basin/pail that could be emptied at the end of the day.

I am looking for something that would not be considered redneck plumbing...any ideas?

I think we've all thought about that at one time or another. A larger funnel mounted on the wall with a drain hose would work nicely. I've never tried it, but I had thought about it.

ummm...I think that kind sound redneck as well as a bit nasty, I'd love to have a urinal in my garage but it would have to be plumbed to the sanitary sewer

You want a plastic urinal that isn't hooked up but you don't want it to be redneck eh? hmmmmmmmm

You aren't gonna dump it in your yard are you? So you will have to go into the house anyway. Why not use the toilet there?

I used to have a "toilet seat" that was designed to sit atop a 5 gallon bucket. It was more for emergencies or camping.

There's got to be a way to have some sort of powder in the bucket that clumps up when you pee. that way you just toss this "clump" into the trash. It would also prevent the smell??? Million dollar idea? Anyone? I know lime is used to keep the smell and critters away when you bury poop & pee.

How about a molded (fiberglass) urinal that would do the same. As in sit on a bucket. Something that would have a simple (airplane style) trapdoor to keep the odor down?

There is always the "Inclonet" the incinerating toilet that just burns it to ash. I've seen them advertised in Pop Sci for basements.

He had a picture uploaded somewhere. It was a 5 gallon bucket plumbed into the drain next to a sink.

Why not just borrow the litter box from the cat?!

Kinda embarrased to say this, but anyway, in my younger days me and some buddies used to travel around in a van, often enjoying beverages. It got to be a pain trying to find a place to pull over for relief. Our solution- we carried a 5 gallon bucket filled with kitty litter in the back corner. About 4 gallons of litter can hold ALOT of lquid. We would just throw away the entire bucket upon reaching our destination.
There's my input as to how to build a redneck toilet.

I have a regular septic system on the other side of the building and bathrooms but this is on the far wall, washup and a urinal. I burried about 30 ft of perf pipe in a bank outside just as a drain for this. Really keeps the traffic out of bathroom. I installed small water heater also and was going to get a regular urnial but my plumber bud said no, it would ruin it. I used a sink basin drain in the bucket. A shower head for the water rinser. Common ball valve with extended handle.

AND that "Bumper Dumper" thing, WHAT'S THE LID FOR???? :wtf:

You can buy a camping chemical (portable) toilet from Sears or other places. Less than $100. Dump it down your house toilet once a week or so. No odors. Easy to use. Keep it in the corner with the lid down when not in use. Lift lid...do your thing...close lid. Drink more beer and repeat! :bounce:

That was the first set of plumbing fixtures I installed, just before I poured the floor, ha I had to have a place and a washup sink and the payback is huge, well worth the investment, no-low maint. I figure it saved installing another whole bathroom and the service bathroom for my office gets used for what it needs to and I have only one public main bathroom to maintain, in the summer I have other facilities. My shop office bathroom never gets used for leaks and to washup grease in, big savings and laundry tubs are so far superior for that kind of thing.
I have another washup sink on the office side as you enter building from entrance door or large doors, its in the traffic pattern, very useful, I can wash before I even go into office or whatever. I have been in shops where the washup situation was pityful, I want it as handy as possible with hot water.

I can't believe no one has suggested clumping cat litter! :pimpflash

I put a "MENS" sign on the back walk door of my shop. Fooled more than one person by telling that was the bathroom door. Of course, it just led out back so they could pee in the weeds.

I'm liking the idea of the perf pipe buried in gravel for gray water out of a sink. Probably going to pull the trigger on that one. Might plumb in the "Super funnel urinal" too!

I don't recall what kind of litter we used

You don't want to pee into that. I've installed them at remote site camps before and they're great for solid matter but not with liquid. Even the women tried to avoid them because the smell was terrible when burning urine.

The exhaust makes a great popcorn popper though

In my old garage I used a urinal out of a portable toilet (kybo, construction site type) then plumbed it out side. Worked great! My brother has been using this same setup for years now! I just haven't had a chance to get to anyone that rents these to see if I can buy this peice from them for my current shop.

For years my dads old shop had an old bathroom sink mounted on the wall with the hose running out the wall and into the ground a few feet into a bucket filled with rock. Never had a bad smell and if if one had to rid themselves of solids you had to go into the house.
