Hi,

Last week i did some brake pipes on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here in Europe all brake pipe fittings are either 11 or 13 mm metric.

On the Jeep it was a different size, im guessing an American size or something because the 11 was too big and a 10 wrench too small. I ended up using two sets of mole grips to work the fittings.

Anyone know the sizes i would need to cover myself ?

Lines are usually 3/16" and 1/4" on US cars and trucks. Wrench size can be from 3/8" to 9/16" (possibly 5/8") as some tube nuts are larger even for the same line size.

When I replaced all the brake lines on my Ranger, the fronts were SAE and the rears were MM (front disc and rear drum). Pain in the ****!

That's odd, because 3/8" is less than 10 mm and 7/16 is larger than 11. (3/8" = 9.525 mm and 7/16" = 11.1125 mm) So there isn't a common SAE wrench size in between 10 and 11. While 11/32 is a common size, I've never seen a 13/32" wrench or socket.
