US General 56 Dawers Don’t Fully Extend...

I purchased a series 1 56” us general roller cab about two years ago. All of the drawers are recessed about 1.5” when extended. My brother recently picked up a series 2 and all of his drawers fully extend. In addition, his box has detents, which I really like.

Is a lack of full extension drawers a limitation of all series 1 56” cabs or did I just get unlucky with my specific sku?

Is there a fix for this issue?

Thanks.

Its not usually for those style of mechanic tool chest lot ack full extension. A majority of them are like that, it typical. Its done to keep strength ratings for sliders at acceptable levels. My 40" HF cabinet did that but it wasn't a bad box especially for the price.

Pricey cabinets like Lista, Vidmar and newer Snap-On offer full extension.

71goldss did an entire thread on the subject. In there, you will find your answer.

Thank you, incredibly helpful in explaining the differences. Looks like i got the “inferior” sku / version. I wish this thread was around before i made my purchase.

No mention regarding modifications to correct the lack of full extension, but i’m assuming it’s not doable because of the difference in drawer depth and locking mechanisms.
