Anyone know the empty, uncrated weight of a series 1 professional top and bottom toolbox? Will move a set this week and I'm thinking trailer w ramps is the easiest and safest option.

I'm pretty sure HF has the weight ratings on their website, I'll take a look here in a bit. I've always moved my Snap On 54" with the smallest U Haul trailer with a ramp. The ramp is rounded on the edge (probably made for mower tires to drive up, so you'll need a piece of wood or something to lesson the step.

Trailer with ramps like a gate should be fine..as long as it's not too steep.

2 people (able bodied) should be able to push it up the ramps.

However, I would unstack them and transport as such unless you have enough straps to do otherwise.

Appreciate it. Cargo trailer w drop down ramp is what we'll do. Originally it was try to load them into the truck bed but after your post and then seeing the weight on an old GJ post HERE (48lb!) and knowing what my 44" set was like to move... :headshake

I do have straps but I plan on unstacking the set in the trailer. I'll still strap them down and pad with carboards and styrofoam. I've got an 8hr drive and I want to get the boxes here without doing unnecessary damage.

I was told roughly 400# for the unit itself and add another 70# or so packaged on the pallet. But even on wheels it's definitely got some mass.

I got mine in a HD truck solo (along with the hutch) and on the built-in ramp it was sketchy-but-manageable. I took it out of the box and off the pallet via the ramp that's in the bottom drawer, which helped a ton. Just make sure you have the wheels that steer and the handle on the back (i.e. straight wheels forward and the handle at the rear where you can manage the trip...). If you have a buddy and not on a hill, it will be a cinch. Be careful anyway... ;)

if you have something that can tow and can manage a ramp of some sort, this is good. I'd be careful about tipping it off the trailer though...
I used this for my 56" no issues at all. I used tie down straps and it was fine, best $20 spent.

A trailer with a good heavy duty ramp is probably easiest. Packaging and moving off pallet will take some time.

I had HF forklift load the works (packaged 56") into my pickup bed. I drove it home, tossed straps around it + through the pallet, and lifted it out of bed with 2-post lift.

Any one know the dimensions of the packaging. I have a 5x8 trailer and I'm going to pickup 3, 56" boxes this week end that I ordered a couple weeks ago.

I don't, but 3 of them will be well over 5' wide, especially on the pallet. The box itself is 22" deep, so 3 of them jammed together is still over 5'...

Just off the top of my head, I believe the 56" on the pallet was like 60" x25"

You MIGHT be able to turn them perpendicular on the trailer and fit, itd'd be close 5' = 60" on a 56" box. Then add in 3" for the handle, plus the width of packaging material or pallet adding width.
Of course youd have to slide them in a little awkwardly. Buuuttt, the 5x8 could carry them.

Just updating that we got the toolbox home.
Used a cargo trailer with them strapped down oriented front to back over the axle. They did fit side to side but for the way the tie down anchors were oriented in the trailer we though strapping them independently might be the safer way to go. Next I put other boxes set in front and in the middle so the toolboxes wouldn't shift forward or the tall one wouldn't want to tip sideways. I also used left over styrofoam sheets against the wall so they wouldn't scratch.

The bottom box had it's wheels which made it easy to load. The top box was a little more work. Removed the drawers and lifted the top box off the bottom. From there it went onto a set of rolling dollies. Then it went into the trailer and the drawers were reinstalled. At home we rolled them off. I brought the tractor over w pallet forks, added a large piece of carboard to them and we transferred the top box onto the forks. From there lifted the forks to height and transferred the top box to the bottom box, drawers still in. Then rolled the boxes into the shop room.

I appreciate the suggestions

Just an FYI, HF literally puts both the actual box weight and shipping weight on their website.

Is that the case for the Series 1 boxes since they are no longer in production?

The answer is no, it's not on their site. Only Series 3 8 drawer cabinet info, which is a different box.

ETA:
Just for future searchable info for anyone coming behind (I didn't have the item # when I posted)
