A long story....I found the compressors on HF web site for @ $650. The ad said it was a store item only. I called three local HFs and they said they did not have them in their computer but I might could order them through parts. The fourth local HF said "we have two and would be having a sidewalk sale tommorow morning and they will be on sale for $159.99, but if you join our Inside track club, you can purchase items that will be on sale tomm(FRi)... today(Thurs) after 3pm. I bought both for 358.00.

I see your signature say Low Country SC. To have 4 Habor freight stores you would have to live close to me beacuse the 4 stores are Charleston,Florence, Dillion and North Myrtle Beach. Which one did you get them from?

If I could get them for anywhere close I'd buy 4 of them.

holeshot, I called Columbia, Charleston, Savannah, and found them in Augusta. They were the only two they had. Dont know if I am going to sell one and pay for the two of them or just keep it in case I have trouble with one....

Where I hang my hat.
An item number would be a great addition to this thread or perhaps a link to the item. I found two on the website but neither were $650..?

the honorable thing would be to sell one to mrholeshot

lol j/k

Agreed, I could meet in Columbia, I could visit my son while I'm there. I'll double your money on one of them so you get the first one free.

Cameras have a photo delete button. Why would you worry about a photo of the compressors, Are you hiding them under the seat of your truck? I was serious about buying one if you want all your money back and keep one. That way you only stand a 50% chance of the wife finding out. Think about it. I can be in Columbia in 150 minutes.

They had two of them that had been "re-certified" at our HF sidewalk sale this morning for $225 each. They both sold while I was there.

There are good deals out there.

There's a discount house in Spokane that's taking pallets of returns from the local HF and reselling the stuff. Last Month I picked up a 3hp 10 gal compressor for a friend. The cost, was $32.

It was returned because it was "Blowing the Breaker." I took it home let it run/cycle for two days... no problems. My friend's happy as a clam with his new compressor.

If you post a pic of the receipt, then we all can print the photo and get them at the same price. I just called my HF and they said they would honor that price if I printed out a pic of that receipt.

That would work, The Manager at the Dillon SC store will honor anything

Mrholeshot, sold the"extra" to my brother in law. Would a picture of the reciept work or would it need to be scanned?

Are you guys sure that's going to work?
My local HF manager is a **** and I don't think they would go for it.
I would hate to drive 3 hrs for nothing.

Anyone know How do you adjust the Cut off, so it stops about 150 psi.?

Also, only had mine for 1 day, and now it's making a humming sound when it tries to kick on. And then pops the breaker.
If I take a screw driver, and manually turn the wheels, it seems to free it up, so when I flip the switch it will start again.?

Like the cylinder is getting stuck at TDC or something.?

Any ideas.?

On my Craftsman there is some kind of pop off valve when it stops that take the pressure off between compressor and tank so it doesn't have a large power demand when it restarts. Maybe yours lacks this or it isn't working?

Otherwise sounds like a motor problem, maybe the starting capacitor.

BTW that sound isn't mmmm mmmmm good, its mmmmm mmmmm bad, something is going to blow if it continues.

I called the Tech line he says he will send out a new motor for me to try.

Crossing fingers that's it.

Cycle the old motor one more time and make sure you hear the rather loud Ssssss when it shuts off. It need to dump cylinder pressure in order to restart as Danglerb stated.

This deal popped up on the internet a year ago. It was a fiasco and a half. Orders were cancelled by HF and people who ordered behind others got a compressor. It was a huge deal on here. You had to pay 85 bucks for freight shipping if I remember. I have never seen it at the store though.

Here Ye, Hear Ye, with the power vested in my by the fraternal order of GJ members, I nominate dulmer an official "YOU ****" award for the purchase of 2 US General 5hp 60gallon compressors for $160 a pop. (You do realize, dulmer, that if you cannot produce a receipt, you will be stripped of this high honor, and banishment from the board will soon follow.)

Someone told me to turn the small nut under the plastic cover.

Once you remove the plastic cover, there are 3 Loc nuts, that
2 large ones with springs on left.
And 1 smaller one in the middle.

Which one do you turn to adjust Max Pressure Valve down to 150 ?
