As my tool collection has grown so has my stuff covers. I have an older US general series 1 41" and side cabinet and a series 2 56" top, bottom, and locker. That I would like to have keyed a like. Has any one tried this yet? Possible to get from HF. I know it was possible for the series 1 top s and bottoms, but have not heard about series 2.

I was told by them the locks they sell now have to be modified to fit series 1. I don't think it took much but didn't ask.

I haven't tried toolbox locks but door locks are super easy to rekey. I bet with a little searching you could find a kit to do it yourself.

Start by looking at the keys. Ignore the cuts (peaks and valleys along the edge), look at the shape of the key itself, paying particular attention to the grooves that run the length of the key.

If they match, it's a simple job (replace tumblers).

If not, look at the bodies and working parts of the locks. If they're the same size and engage the same way, you should be able to get a matching set.

Hope this helps.

Best way is find a lock similar enough adapt across the boxes and buy a matched set and fit them.
If you not up to that speak with a local locksmith as these style locks are common enough they will be able advise options
