Just picked up 3 black ones that I mean to line up together and still have the opportunity to roll one away. Has anyone unboxed one of these new series 2 models? I'm pretty sure the casters need to be assembled, and I would like to avoid opening the box improperly and having to struggle to put them on (one man shop). Thanks for any help. sam

The casters on mine were inside one of the drawers. Don't remember which one, but I think they were in the bottom drawer.

I opened the box and left the bottom on. After getting the casters out, I leaned the box to one end and supported it on a wood block to attach the casters. After that, tilted it the other way to do the other end.

Thanks. Easy Peasy, just like you said. I now have a bank of 24 gleaming black and chrome drawers 80 x 22 x 40.5! A total of 29,400 cubic inches of real quality storage for under $750.
Of course, I could have bought a Snap On KRL 722 for $6000 more (and got 6,000 cubic inches LESS Storage). Screwed up again. I'll probably never learn.

Hopefully you will post some pictures. I am thinking of buying one. It will likely just be a side box, as I intend to buy a larger 44"-56" box. But I like the idea of buying 2 or 3 smaller boxes that could be easily seperated.

Here's one. I plan to "tie" them together with a common fitted top.

I love this idea. I've already outgrown my HF series 2 40" box. The only issue for me is where to put my torque wrenches / pry bars / 1/2" breaker bars.

I hate this site. I have wanted to do this for Lista/Vidmar-type parts storage at work. Now I HAVE to talk my boss into it this year. Stupid forums.

I'm not finished yet (no top) however, here's my solution to the long stuff. I have a few shallow trays that came in snap On 29" drawers. Here's a pic of one with a pink liner. Also, here's a pic of it in place on top of the "triple bay". It still leaves a huge amount of work area.
You might note the plywood under the far right bay. My garage (all garages) slopes down toward the door, so small shims help keep the bays tight at the top.

I would up pouring a small, level platform in the side of my garage. The only downside is that getting things on and off can be a bit difficult, although I made a short ramp on the end to help with that. The platform is probably an inch high on the door end and is flush at the other end.

I ripped 2x3’s and glued them to the concrete to make the frame, caulked the inside edges, and then filled it with a self-leveling mortar. Hardest part was scribing the 2x3's to match the slope of the floor. I propped up one end until the top of the 2x3" was level, and then used dividers to scribe the 2x3 to match the floor. Once I had them scribed, it was short work in the bandsaw to rip them along the scribe line. Basically wound up with a wedge six feet long and one inch high.
