When do the Gen 2 boxes start getting blown out with heavy discounts?

Knowing Harbor Freight they’ll raise the prices then put them on “sale” lowering prices to something higher than today but lower than Gen 3 to still seem enticing. I’d imagine in Spring if they’re able to build up inventory.

I'm interested in the lockers. I have one of the current ones on my 29 inch deep Snap on box now but wider and deeper would make me but 2 of them if they are not much higher than today. Just can't justify $5000 a locker from the truck.

They just raised them. A couple days ago, the 72" was 1500, today it is 1600. Marked as clearance though
Meh - ultimately I only care about what price brings it home vs. what's available from others at a similar price. I can't say I love the way that works @ HF though...

I’m sure glad I purchased my two black, matching sku number, 56” lower cabinets when I did! Seems a lot of guys don’t care either way, but I much prefer the look of the vertical trim on the 56” and 72” Series I and Series 2 boxes. Maybe the final production model of the Series 3 will have it when it hits the market, but it looks too plain jane without it in my opinion. I also hate black wheels on a car or truck, so I’m sure my 72 year old opinion is of the minority. Haha!

56 is more than I need but I was wary with the old 44s that I might not have enough long drawers for torque wrenches, breaker bars etc. New 44 has an extra full length drawer which should make it a better fit.
Heading to the states at the end of the month (from Canada)... Was really hoping these would be out by the time my trip came around but that might be wishful thinking.

iirc, they were $699 once upon a time
I got mine down to $620 using a 20% off coupon and the first purchase on my HF credit card. Then paid off and closed the card.
I thought we'd see some more teasers for gen 3 by now.

Seems like quite a price hike whatever way you look at it...
1100 + 1700 for the Series 2 72" Bottom + Top = $2800
Icon 73" Hutch is about 56% the cost of the Icon 73" Top Chest - guesstimate an imaginary Series 2 73" hutch would be $616 (1100*0.56)
72" Series 2 Roller Cab + hutch = $2316
73" Hutch is 40% the cost of the 73" Roller Cab
Series 2 72" + imaginary hutch = $2380 (1700*1.4)
Guessing a 25% price increase per item

Buying two 44” series 2 right now seems very enticing. They’re currently $479 ea for the lower box.

I love my 72 but really wish I had a 2nd full length drawer for wrenches. Hoping to pick up a side locker soon. Those hutches do look great though.
The lack of full width drawers kills them for me. The split bank drawers are actually smaller than the ones on a 5 drawer cart.

It has the one full length top drawer. But yeah other than the split back drawers are small. Can’t even fit just the metric wrench sets in one of them.

They are pushing the price of an extreme tools DX box. Checking out at rockin tool boxes with their current tax time deals a 72" DX with hutch is $3,223.99 if you don't need a lift gate.
Harbor freight boxes are becoming less and less of a value than they used to be.
The husky 80" with hutch and little locker is $1,700. While only a single top drawer and not as big of a box, saving $1,300 is a lot of money for a DIY guy in his home garage.
A couple years ago no one would have thought spending $3k on a box at harbor freight was a "good deal", now it's just about stomachable.

When the time comes to get a new box I’ll be looking everywhere. Strictly Tool Boxes, Rockin Tool Boxes, HF, etc

You won’t get the hutch but there are a lot of Snap-pan and Matco boxes in FB marketplace in the $2500-$3000 range and they are deeper and built well. I guess it would depend on if you really need that hutch.
It costs money to compete with the big boys which in turn decreases the value.
IMHO once the 44 broke the $425 range and everything else in the lineup increased accordingly it opened up to other options in that price range.
The used truck box market kind of kills the higher priced options simply based on customer perception more times than not.

Rockin & Strictly are still a big chunk of money more than USG with a price increase.

Just wish it was a tiiiny bit wider. My 1/2" socket racks side by side are 38" and change. Would love to get them organized side by side instead of stacked deep like I have in my 5-Drawer

I'm also considering the Husky heavy duty boxes. I know the quality is subpar but the price is hard to beat.

Perhaps. Did we do the same thing with VIM and Tekton? How much is inflation in production cost and how much is hype?
That said I'd rather have a Canadian produced Tekton box than Asian if the price point is similar.

$1800 is palatable.
I’d love the 60” Tekton but $3800 is out of my range.
I’d love the 72” Tool Vault but $2900 is also out of my range.
At $1800 I’d be able to add on a locker and maybe side cabinet over time and still be around $3000.
At $1800 I’d spend the extra money on a USG3 than a Husky heavy duty.

If that is the real price, that isn't bad at all. Just a couple of hundred more than the Series 2 roller. I still wish they would have had a latch system akin to the Menards MasterForce boxes, the Craftsman GripLatch, or the Tekton boxes. I'm not a huge fan of the side original HF side latch, the new full latch, or even the detents.
