Stopped by HF last week and really liked the new cabinets in the blue color, but the lower 26" model wasn't in stock. They told me they might get a new shipment in today, so I stopped buy and sure enough they had a single blue 26" in stock. While my 4 year old twins were running around the store squealing and breaking things, I paid my $229 (with coupon).

Only afterward did I notice that the bottom of the box had a small rip all the way through the styrofoam to the cabinet itself. I felt around for structural damage and pointed out that the enamel was chipped off (a trivial 0.5cm nick) to the cashier, and asked if they might consider a discount for damage. He immediately said, "Sure, how about I take off $50?" So I walked out with a new blue 26" box for $180. This sort of thing rarely happens to me.

Even better, the box fit in the hatch of my Prius V no problem without even having to fold the backseats down!

If anyone gets the 44 and possibly the add on boxes in blue, I'd love to see it. I thought of getting the blue one but wasn't sure how much I would like it down the road. But it really stands out for sure.

I'm replacing my old 44" bottom with the new one. I was thinking about getting a different color bottom just to mix things up. But not sure if I would like it after the newness wore off and I was looking at a red top and sides with a blue bottom.
I think I'll just stick to red.

I have the Homak 44" top/bottom combo in blue but am really considering selling to fund one of the HF combos. Is it really that much difference in the depth of the drawers from the old cabinets? The Homak dimensions are identical to the old cabinets.

If you want see full benefit of depth and hassle of change you best skipping to a 24" box .
22" is still noticeable, it a quarter deeper than the 18" box drawers .

I bought a 44" in blue. Going back for a 26" when they have it in stock... going to fab them into a workbench.

I wanted the Homak really badly before they raised the price. I did see one at NAPA and wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. The new Series 2 44" seems noticeably nicer than the previous gen, and didn't seem to give up anything to the Homak.

Neither are on tool truck level in my eyes, but I will get ~24k CI for 700 bucks or so, and the best I could do for a Snap On is a used 54" for ~1200 bucks on CL. It would be 24" deep but it would have less CI.

That being said I dont do this stuff for a living, so take my opinion for what its worth. I do like to finger fk tool boxes whenever I get the chance tho.

Super tempted to buy the black 56" top and bottom so I can consolidate all my stuff from various boxes and sell my old 44"

I have 2 of the old 44's and an old 26", and I really wish these were out when I bought those. My only gripe has always been the 18" depth of the older boxes. The new blue is a great color.

Question for those with top and bottom. Can you get them with the same key? Or different keys no matter what?

Different key no matter what .
You maybe able order matched set via HF parts but expect that be ballache even if possible .
If want matching you best sourcing own lock barrels from local hardware or locksmith .
My matco boxes have matched locks from hardware store for 24 bucks for 4 (cheaper online but I like my local shop) . bought a spare as handy add to something else/as spare .

I went for it. Last day for the coupon so figured why not start with the bottom. Love the blue. 6844ac4fc549ce79609e0e94b7d02492.jpg

I had been planning a black 56 top and bottom,. My son's talked me into orange. I decided a 44 top and bottom. Two side lockers on the way. If I run out of room I plan to add another 44 for a bench. Busy now working on the garage.

Not a hf guy but the new colors look good especially the blue.

For me not having the bottom right drawer on the 44" roller be extra deep is a killer. I like blow molded sets like tap and die in that drawer. My Kennedy and Cornwell are made that way.

I went in to purchase a blue 56 top and bottom and they told me they would not have them in stock until June 10th. I was told I could pay and pre-order, but I will wait I think until mid May and check back.

This seems to be a trend lately with HF. I went to buy a new low profile long reach in green. None of the stores in my area have any in stock, and the store 100 miles away claim to have one.
They bring all these new items out, but don't have them in the stores at a good supply level for weeks or months.

Thought about ordering it since it is only $6.50 to ship, but I didn't see an option on the website to buy the extended warranty. And the last jack I ordered from Summit arrived with about 40% of the box missing due to the weight of the item.

I ordered a new 44" in blue for at work and have been waiting for 2 weeks for it, and isnt supposed to be here until next week... Fingers crossed. Its replacing a 10 year old 44" (actually were 42" back then) Harbor freight box back when they were rough matte painted red. The extra 4" of depth should make a huge difference. I have a 5 year old harbor freight 44" top and bottom at home also, and the 10 year old box drawer slides seem so much better than all the newer boxes. Oh well, co worker is buying it from me, if it was gloss red id bring it home and stick it next to my other ones...
