Put a down payment on this baby until the weather gives me a chance to bring it home in the next few weeks.

Condition is good, everything cleaned with new bearings. VFD installed so it can run on 220v single phase with remote pot for easy speed changes.

Built sometime in the 40's I think. US Machine Tools merged with Burke about 1948 so its before then. About 3/4 the size of a standard mill, perfect for the shop.

Very nice.
FWIW, there is a Burkemills group/forum on Yahoo. It is probably the only place were you will find some owners with like machines.

I've run across this group in my research, i'll join after I get it home. Seems like the only place with any real info about these units.

I had been searching for a Millrite or Clausing 8520 for months now but then this popped up for a good price, ready to use.

I have not seen one of those before.

With a name like "US MACHINE TOOL" I was fully expecting it to be made in China! :lol_hitti

...everything cleaned with new bearings. ...

Spindle bearings too? Those are tricky to change -- should be an ABEC 7 and oriented to minimize runout, but many people don't bother and just switch them for something of lower quality. May be worth investigating!

Otherwise, beautiful machine. It actually looks more similar to a Clausing 8520/8525/8530 (which also have that round ram and motor arrangement) than it does to the Burke Milright. It also looks heavy for its size (which is good!). What's the taper?

Spindle bearings too...

Taper is a Brown and Sharpe #9. It comes with a bunch or collets and a drill chuck so I should be good for what I'm using it for...

Lahti35 Glad to see another one of these has servived. Mine is a VT--- #2599. I have had mine for a while now and it has been able to do every thing I ask of it. Just a hobby shop. Mine also is a #9 B&S taper, and I was lucky enough to find all the tooling I needed for it. It came with nothing, so you are lucky to have a good start.

I looked for 6 months for a small mill but all I could find were way overpriced clausing 8520's and rusty abused millrites. I've got enough restorations going on around this place so I'm thrilled to bring home something that's good to go!
