Does it exist? Seems like they're all chrome or industrial (black chrome with a pinned 1/4" anvil). Sunex/Titan have them but Snap-On/MAC/Matco/CMan/SK etc.. doesn't make one. They make 1/4" to 3/8" adapters in impact but not the other way around. Seems odd.

Yeah, you'd twist the anvil right off on the first fastener. Doubt any 1/4" anvils can take the beatings from 300ft-lb 3/8" wrenches.

@Skin...I went through the same thing...S.O. part # is GFAT1E. I bought one off the truck...the 1/4 dr. end fits like a bit socket. I never thought I would use 1/4 Dr impact sockets...boy was I wrong :)

not for impact use, even says it on the socket I think. Regardless its basically black chrome aka industrial finish. I already have the Matco version. Oh and the 1/4" anvil is pinned in it as opposed to being machined from one piece.

I don't want it for a pneumatic. Most 12v compact impacts are 3/8" drive. They put out a max of ~120 foot pounds. The dedicated 1/4" versions don't have any balls to them. Milwaukee is rated at 45 foot pounds max torque and the Snap-On/Matcos are only good for ~55-60. In conjunction with an extension and a swivel socket that's just not enough power so im going to adapt down a 3/8" compact for things like impact swivels.

That snap on reducer is a joke, Broke within 10 minutes of walking off the truck on a dewalt 12v 3/8 impact. Had it the replaceable 1/4 anvil replaced the next three weeks in a row. It pissed me off the last time and chucked it in the trash. Matco chrome for about 2 years now almost always on my dewalt 12v impact, never once any issues

Interesting. I had not noticed the 1/4" M12 is like 40 lbft. Their 3/8" is >100 and the 1/4" hex (the one I have) is 100 lbft. I use the hex adapter on 1/4" sockets. I didn't get a square M12 as I have a few in M18 & a DeWalt 12V 3/8". I was tempted to get an M12 1/4 square but it does seem to be quite underrated.

120ft-lb is way beyond the service limit of 1/4" drives.

I've had better luck with a cordless ratchet or screwgun (non-impacting torque) than an impact wrench when extensions and swivels are involved.
