Go with Mayhew or Wilde. Skip the Dasco.

Mayhew has several lines of chisels. From no better than Dasco to identical to Snap On because they're the OEM for Snap On. But if you're looking at the Mayhew 150 line, you may as well buy from Snap On, because the prices are about the same.

Yes, Mayhew Select is the lower line. Not recommended.

Bear in mind that U.S. made tools work out relatively expensive by the time you get them here. Worth it for some things, not sure about chisels.
Have you considered Eclipse or Footprint for a start (though there are others) both will be much better value than shopping transatlantic.
You didn't specify size or purpose, but there's also PB Swiss. Mega costly in the U.S. but much better value here, and probably the best out there!

I bought a couple of Dasco punches (not chisels) at my local True Value store because I needed them and they were USA. Win Win!
Not much of a win. The tips mushroomed fast and always needed dressing.
I've since gotten and used these Proto punches.

They are not made of unbendable steel but they have held up much better than the Dasco. And they too are USA (at least my set is).

Thanks for the suggestions. Just to answer a few points it is cold chisels for metalwork or more accurately farm workshop work that I'm after and I am trying to buy just US tools or I would certainly look at the PB Swiss. It looks like being Mayhew as I have just bought a lot of Mayhew stuff and have been really pleased with it. Both Wilde and Mayhew are pretty reasonably priced on Amazon.

I’ll second Footprint
I have a set of Snap On chisels and I feel they are a bit soft, maybe I had a bad set but they didn’t impress me. I bought 3 Footprint chisels and have given them some serious abuse and they have never let me down. They take a good edge and hold it for a long time and are pretty cheap.
