For $30 I had to have this. It is small (6" 1/3 hp) but good quality but I can not find much on this. The plastic eye guards have been replaced and the color appears to be original. Anybody seen one of these or know any history on this Minnesota company?

Seeing as how the brand is the same as my last name I had to have it. I also picked up a nice 10" Queen City so I'm thinking about starting a "King & Queen" collection now :willy_nil

Your info would be appreciated.

Thanks

wissota made grinders in minneapolis. the company is still there but only makes ice skate sharpeners now. a call to them may answer whether they made this grinder as they rebranded for snap-on, delta and others. it does look similar to my 1/4 hp wissota but it actuallly looks more my 1/3 hp albert lea grinder that was made south of minneapolis in albert lea.

I will have to try that I have a 10" Wissota as well but thought they were out of business. I will see if I can get a number and try to get a hold of somebody there.

they are most definately still there. i just ordered a couple tool rests from them last week. they seem to have quite a few parts for older bench grinders on hand if you can stand the sticker shock.

Great find Mr. King. Your new grinder has the look of a Baldor or an old Black and Decker and has the nice stout wheel guards too. looks like the ends of the guards might be missing, but a great find.

nice idea to have Kings and Queens in your shop. how does he run when you plug him in?

Super grinder for $30, very well done. Only problem now is when you walk by the Ryobi 'grinders' at HD you'll start to feel physically ill.

This little King runs very smooth and takes a long time to stop after turning it of. I assume it had end guards but I have never seen a picture of one yet.

I will let every one know what I find out about Wissota (which by the way are great grinders too)

those wheel covers look very similar to several brands so if you need any there might be a few to find in other places.

I hate to give you the bad news but the Saints are about 3 touchdown underdogs because the Hawks are well rested. i'll be searching for other deals like your awesome King grinder instead of watching the game, but I do sympathize for your loss in advance.

cheers

Yes I will take a photo next time I am at the storage unit. I leave these projects in the dark and they just keep multiplying.

The QC was a good industrial brand,
I just bought a QC wide arm buffer which unfortunately it did not come with a stand.

So now I'm on the hunt for a QC stand.

If anyone has a line on a QC stand let me know.
