I was in my local Ace Hardware today, they have a limited selection of Craftsman but every tool I picked up was stamped USA, breaker bars, ratchets, sockets and screwdrivers. Is this all old stock or do they replenish their stock with USA? associates didn't know.

Probably old stock. The last time I looked at my local Ace Hardware, they had almost all US made Craftsman on the shelf.
I'll never understand why people buy Chinese Craftsman tools on the internet when they can get the real thing at their local hardware store.
Maybe this is just part of the dumbing down of the US.

Was any of it marked down? I'm going to be near one later this afternoon. True Value by me was cleared out of name brand discounted tools.

Should be new stock since there is still a lot of USA made stuff at Sears as well. Ratchets, and some wrenches are usually Chinese, but a lot of the other stuff is still marked as being made in USA. It would behoove you to get it while you can, though.

Only Chicom Craftsman at my ACE would be the craftsman brand rice-grips and some of the ratcheting wrenches. I picked up a USA-made flex-head ratchet at Ace for $21.99 and the ChiCom ones at Sears are $20.99.

I will GLADLY pay that measly extra dollar for a 'merican made version.

Im thinking about getting a 1/2'' drive flex head ratchet for $33.99 at Ace versus the Chicom at Sears for $32.99. Again, worth the Extra dollar!!

But at ACE they also have USA made impact sockets!

As well as USA thin-profile 60T ratchets versus the Republic of China made ones at Sears.

You may pay a little more, but you can usually get USA made, and you support a local business.

Like others have said, these are probably old stock. When my local Ace started carrying Craftsman it was almost exclusively USA-made, whereas the same tool at the local Sears was China. However, as time has gone on I've seen more and more China appearing on the Ace shelves, so it's only a matter of time before it's all the same source whether from Ace/Sears/whereever. Not to beat a subject to death that has been flogged repeatedly on GJ, but there still is a lot of USA-made still out there, so get it while you can.

this was the first tool I picked up and looked at, can't have enough of them.

old stock

that was my initial impression, but since they opened up it looks like no one has bought a single Craftsman tool there.

My local Ace has an impressive aisle of Craftsman at not so impressive prices.

everything was ~5% more than at Sears. I noticed prices on nuts and bolts at Ace were little higher than big box hardware stores. however Ace has better customer service/more relaxed atmosphere and is more convenient. they have oddball sizes of nuts and bolts that the big box stores don't, 7/16" grade 8 fine, 1" grade 8 and so on.

My local Ace has nothing but Chinkese ratchets. Everything else I've seen was USA though. I just got one of their 3/8" ratchets for a warranty, and it looks like ****, but it's just my spare and keeps the bottom drawer of my box from floating away... and I've probably got a dozen 3/8" Craftsman USA ratchets laying around. I did notice at Sears that their rack of warranty ratchets was all USA, but the 'tards they employ at the tool counter make it not worth my time to make a trip to warranty one tool unless Ace doesn't have it.

Dude, I totally understand the anti-China sentiment in regard to how our manufacturing jobs are being shipped overseas, but really, can you keep the racist language out? You really don't need to use it to make your point.

I'm half Asian, I agree with your argument 100%, but I really can't see past your dickitude when you use the word "Chink".

Thanks.
