I have that set as well as the metric sizes in a carrying pouch. So far they've done what I've asked them to do.

Great set to have. My dad has that set still in the stinky clear plastic pouch from years ago.
It ain't the pouch that caused the stink, it's the ****** acetate handles.
Handy? Yes but that pernicious stink trumps their usefulness. Sold mine off and haven't missed them for a moment. The drawer they occupied has almost lost that awful vomit smell.

I have the same set. No smell but a couple handles look like they started melting...
I like the acetate handle drivers much better than the plastic **** they have nowadays.

Can your hand really tell the difference?

Haha! Yep, those screwdrivers smell the same way. But it is stuck in my brain as a good memory anyway.

I also have the Craftsman set. I use them often, and the smell has never bothered me in the least! I guess everyone just has their own sensitivities! Still, referring the smell to vomit seems extreme.

I find them useful on appliances, hose clamps and tight spaces where a ratchet, socket and maybe extension isn't practical. Plus, I like how the shaft is hollow, where as even the use of a deep socket might still run out of depth in some cases.

You might not be sensitive to it, but the component that is off gassing and causing the smell is butyric acid which is also found in vomit.

Thanks for the info. I just googled and you are correct. As you stated, I may not be sensitive to it, or It's that I just don't relate the two smells since I've always avoided smelling vomit. It's been years since I or anyone around me has vomited! Nice subject! Haha! Anyway, I stand corrected!

I also have those sets. Plus another different style. I probably have two more sets of the standard SAE in different places. Not sur about the plastic packs though.
