I am considering buying a brand new compressor for the first time in my life (have had a dozen, all old or broken), and am wondering what brands are made in the USA?
Looking for a 60 gal, 5hp upright or horizontal.

Just an FYI, BelAire compressors are made by ABAC/American IMC & so are the HF US General branded 60gals. Manchester tank, IMC pump (Italy), Condor pressure switch, AO Smith motor.

Most Rolair except their "Bull" and a couple of other sub-$300 ones are US Made and very good.

My 60 gal, 7hp Craftsman Pro has a USA General Electric motor, DeVilbiss tank (data plate is stamped USA), and there's a decal on the tank that says "Made in USA of domestic and foriegn parts"

If noise is an issue for you I would probably spend the extra for a quincy unit. The belaire/hf units are good compressors but they all come with a noisy 3400rpm motor. When I was looking the quincy came with a quieter motor and the compressor had a slightly higher cfm rating.

I like the idea of a slower, quieter motor/pump.
What model of Quincy did you end up with?

Not sure anyone makes a portable 25 gallon or bigger unit, with dual voltage. that is USA made.

It appears the only thing lacking from the vertical portable quincy is the dual voltage.

That compressor in a horizontal unit with dual voltage would be the cats meow!!

I am not looking for portable.
I would actually prefer horizontal, so I can put it on a pallet rack shelf and save floor space, but the majority in the 5hp/11+CFM range seem to be uprights.

I recently purchased a used Snap-On compressor with 64 hours on unit, pump is made in Italy. I am amazed at how quiet this unit is. We have a Champion at work, was very quiet at first but has become more noisy as it gets more hours on it. My first choice was the Champion but the deal on the Snap-On unit was too good to pass up. We also have an old Quincy at work, it has knocked for 20+ years but won't die!

I have an old Quincy 216 pump, but it is my understanding that they are only capable of 100-psi and 10.5-CFM, or I'd find a tank to put it on.

My Quincy 325:

Just under 19 CFM @ 175 psi. The only thing wrong with them is the price :)

Steevo,
I just bought a Chicago Pneumatic. I couldn't find anything on the pump for COO but the tank and Baldor motor are U.S. My model has a factory sound enclosure over it. The "squirrel cage" blower motor for exhausting air out of the enclosure is made in Germany. It's a twin to the Belaire model mentioned above.

I bought a new 7.5hp QT Quincy and have never looked back. That compressor is great. And they are carried a northern tool who sometimes have sales.

I have a Quincy QT5 and if I remember correctly the actual pump is made in India...Its been a few years but I called and think thats what they said.

At the time the one that surprised me was the Campbell Hausfield Industrial/Commercials were made entirely in the US.

Might be worth a few minutes of inquiring.

In a past life I assmbled small compressor packages in Colorado.
They could have pumps from many different countrries. The tank was made in USA.
The pulleys?? All the motors were Baldor USA. The electrics and pressure switches ??
The belts were USA. They were kinda like a new car, with mostly USA made parts.
Go look if you can and see where the major parts were made.

Hey Ford88,

Did you order Model# 2V41C60VC? It is $1399.99 online. Could you tell me where you got the $100 discount? Looks like this would be the perfect compressor for me. Thanks!

I actually didn't end up with a quincy. I had been looking at them online and at the local northern tool. Not sure the model numbers but I remember the choice basically being between the quieter and smaller quincy (5hp 2 stage 60gal) or the HF (7.5hp, 2 stage, 80 gal) for roughly the same money. I ended up with a CL find because it pretty much fell into my lap and was to good to pass up. 80 Gal Craftsman Professional 2 stage 7.5hp for $100.

Check out Jenny compressors. Pumps made in Pennsylvania.

http://www.jennyproductsinc.com/stationary/electric.html

I have a J5A-60 and it's fantastic, I haven't seen anything even close to comparable that puts out as much air as it does. Single stage, 28.7CFM displaced @125 PSI, 19.0CFM delivered. 780 RPM so it's nice and quiet. Never seen anyone on here talk about them, I guess they're just not well known or what?

The Bel-Aire's have American made tanks, motors, and switches. The pumps, however, are made in Italy. You may be hard pressed finding a pump made in the US, but I could be wrong. I own a dual stage 80gal 7.5hp BelAire and couldn't be happier with it. I haven't heard a Quincy personally, but I think my compressor is fairly quiet. They already come with the intake silencers and filters (Solberg). If quiet is your thing, they now sell the QP series which has a soundproofed pump/motor enclosure. The Bel-Aires are pretty expensive (bought mine used)
