usa made ratchet wrenches

am I correct that Armstrong and Snap on are only options?

Im looking for 20 and 21mm reversible ratcheting to satisfy my OCD and fill in some racks

To my knowledge no ratcheting wrenches are 100% made in the USA the ratcheting mechanism will be from Taiwan but the body will be made in USA the 21mm you can find snap on matco/Armstrong or cornwell (but I believe these are rebadged gearwrench)

That OCD can sure be a pain in the ****. Matco Proswing ratchet wrenches will be U.S. made and should be very, very close to the Armstrong except the Matco will have the Optitorque open end. I use these daily and have ZERO issues with them over the last 6-7 years.

To my knowledge Armstrong makes most of the ratchets and wrenches for matco just rebranded and I do nit belive I have ever seen a reversible 20mm but I have seen a 21mm in gearwrench and just to clarify you are talking about the ones with the reversible lever and not the standard ones that you flip over to go the opposite direction

Armstrong goes down to 7mm. I have a complete set of 7mm to 19mm Armstrong reversibles with no skips.
The non reversibles go down to 6mm IIRC.


Also IIRC Proto has a new USA made ratcheting wrench out. The XL Blackhawk wrenches are also USA made but non reversible and only 36 tooth.
NOS Craftsman is also USA, but dont go above 19mm. Maybe check out craftsman industrial???

Armstrong ratcheting wrenches also have the modified open ends. Armstrong calls it "Surface drive plus".

I don't trust their website. I just look at the tool. No "USA", not made in USA.

Not quite the same thing, that was Hein Werner doing something screwy, nothing to do with Snap-On. In the case of the wrenches, they make them. Also, directly on the package.





Plus the gearing is essentially little dual 80 designs which is Snap-On patented.

Anyway back to the Wrenches themselves, Matco Pro-Swing, Armstrong, Snap-On only real options. Snap-On has a nice feeling and a design that shouldn't reverse under load but they're a little wider and significantly fatter in depth (due to housing a dual 80 design) than the other brands. For the money they're a rip unless you just like the koolaid. GW set runs about a 1/4 of Snappies list and theres also the blue-point which are made over seas by snap-on and essentially have the same mechanical design, only they're shorter and no FD+ option.
