USA made sliding T Handle - Unknown maker

I have had this 1/2" drive sliding T Handle for years. I assume that 'CAT' is short for catalogue rather than being the maker.

It is pictured on a socket just for balance.

It is not plated.

There is a ball at each end of the bar.

The middle of the bar has a groove and the sliding piece has a detent ball in the bottom.

The open top to the sliding piece is a bit unusual.

Has anybody got an idea about the maker?

I think that I've now answered my own question.

It appears that the 'CAT' does mean Caterpillar and that it was made by Proto according to some information on the web. Can anyone confirm for sure?

5 S 9566 says a Cat part no without knowing anything else about it.

Somebody like Proto made those for CAT, CAT may need to include a tool kit for the army, whoever.

@Stubby1743 Following up myself on this out of curiosity, your sliding tee by P/N is shown on pg 54 of the catalog here.

made by Proto according to some information on the web.

Not sure what rationale they used, but "MFD." is a major tell. Only late Plomb Tool Co / early- to mid- Pendleton Tool Industries Inc branded Proto and Thorsen known to use it.

This advert is from AA and shows exactly the same type of sliding T bar.
