So I built a great tool/shop just to get rid of it all about 10 years ago. Now I'm building up again and find that good 'ol USA tools are nearly extinct. Ebay is my friend. Who makes a 1/2-inch drive air impact wrench that's a pleasure to have and use? Nobody in the USA seems to make them anymore.

St. Louis Pneumatic appears to be a USA manufacturer, but their website has not been updated since 2005. Not sure if they are still in business but may be worth trying to contact them if you are still wanting made in the USA pnuematic tools.

Florida Pnuematic assembles in the USA with parts sourced globally. I think other threads related to air tools has stated that Florida Pnuematic air tools are also rebanded under numerous names.

With all that said, I have never used either of the above brands, but others may have experience with a reband. I am not sure if this info will be very useful but hopefully gets you started in your search.

Ingersoll Rand 2135TiMAX is assembled in North Carolina with a mixture of US and offshore components.

With the possible exception of some of their industrial impacts, Chicago Pneumatic is all offshore.

I recently added the 2135 to my 2115. The day I got it I beat the snot out of it fixing the axles on my old Tahoe. Love this IR gun, kicking myself for waiting so long to get it.

Lots of them I really enjoy. Cornwell CAT4150 (AKA Napa 6-1123) ATD2102 ( AKA Nesco 745, and many others) 2135timax (AKA - AW5500M,IR-C8000, MT1769A), Nitrocat 1200K (AKA Mac AW612Q) These are all nice IMO to own and use, and all are strong wrenches as well. The CAT4150 and the 2135timax weigh the same and are the lightest ones, but the CAT4150 is even shorter in lenght. Nitrocat's are really really strong, hand grip is nice for me to use, easy to keep hold of.

I think most of that list is from Taiwan except the IR based tools.

Yep, it is, lot of them are USA based companies, I'm sure though, and how many are made here that are a pleasure to use? Not many I can think of. I can't think that there's much, or any difference in a tool from a US based company made overseas to their standards, in their factory, with their procedures. Simply because IR makes them overseas as well. I've heard lots of people say don't get the IR 231C it's made overseas and it's junk. I've yet to see the reality of that statement myself. The worst wrench I can think of for price, weight, noise and trouble is made in the USA, and it's RED. Just my 02.

So are the IR TiMax and QTiMax US made?

Right on the box it says "assembled in USA"..... Yet, this is hands down, one of the best liked and respected wrenches that I can think of, out of all the 1/2" impacts out there.

Maybe the older one. My last 231C was made in China. My Thundergun was assembled in the US if I remember correctly.

Yeah, "assembled". Have to kind of read between the lines on that. Parts made elsewhere. Also the 232tgsl, or Thunder Gun uses all 231 parts inside,as well. They're great guns.
