With all of the portable electron devices in use, I'm thinking about buying some type of USB charging station that will have a single plug for 120v and multiple USB outlets similar to a power strip. I've also seen one that offers their charger with a 4.5 hour timer.

Any suggestions?

Some USB Hubs (with external power bricks) will do this even if not connected to a computer. Make sure you get one rated for charging devices.

Tablet computers and E readers need a lot more amps than a cell phone charger can provide. My tablet charges at 2 amps while my smartphone only charges a .7 amps.

If you go with a powered hub add up all the devices you plan on charging simultaneously and make sure the hub can handle that.
