About to pull the trigger on a bolt assortment. Looking at the big grade 8 coarse kit from USBoltkits.com. Just wondering if anyone has ordered from them? Looking for info on quality? Any other online sources comparable in price?

Also, for those with the metal bin cabinet, would you prefer 8" or 12" deep pockets?

In the only town in Pennsylvania, Bloomsburg.
Ordered $4500 in bolt kits. SAE, metric, and stainless. II already have Vidmar 60" cabinets. Primarily used Akrobins, 5-3/8 x 4-1/8 x 3, for storage, filled 13 drawers. Only issue is I should have ordered more smal1 hardware. Sure beats the aggravating trips to the hardware store..must have saved a few hundred in hardware costs and a few hundred in gas already. I need to buy a small hardware kit in the future.

"If you were not aware, TSC sells grade 8 bolts by the pound. They are typically the cheapest way to get common sized fasteners in bulk."

I have at least 13 drawers x 24 bins, that 324 bins of bolts/nut/ fine/coarse/washers/lock washers in SAE/metric/stainess. Not very practical to get 324 different items from TSC, if they have all 324 items in the quantity as in the kit, weigh each item, bag each item and then drag hundreds of pounds back to the shop. In all it would likely take a couple full days, if TSC had everything in the kit. Doubt TSC could be cheaper, in anyway time/ money/ or crippled back.

That's what I was thinking. However as a small shop I will definitely end up restocking the most used sizes from TSC. They are conveniently located close to me.

I bought a kit from them this fall. Other than some missing bolts, which they sent, no trouble.

I hope my ocd doesn't force me to count 8000 pieces! LOL
I didn't count haha.. I got the small kits of maybe 500 pieces of SAE and 500 metric. Was a black Friday sale I believe. If memory serves, I had shared it on here.

Was missing the whole quantity of 2 different M10 bolts, but did end up with 1 quantity of something else like M14 or 16. Something I'll likely never use.

They sent them without any hassles.

I ordered nylok nuts maybe 2 months ago and that shipment was missing the 3/8" nuts. I hadn't even unpacked it, just opened the mailer, saw it was nuts and set it by the bolt bins for later.
Needed some 3/8" nylok nuts. Felt all warm and fuzzy I have them "in stock" vs a trip to town.

They sent those without fuss even though it'd been a while since I received the shipment. I did explain I was out of town for a while and hadn't immediately unpacked it.

I don't do enough work that needs new nuts and bolts to justify thousands of dollars in hardware sitting around. Of course in a full time shop it probably makes sense. I know one shop I worked just had a bin of "randoms". I bet time wasted finding hardware or going to the stores could have paid several times over for an 8000 piece set.

I got setup with the common sizes to take care of most of my needs.

If I have a project that needs 100 bolts of a size, then it's a trip to Fastenall or Lowes. Same with other less common stuff.

I used them once when I was really low on everything and didn't want to buy by the pound at the local place. No issues that I remember. Bolt quality seems to be just as good as anything else I usually get.

I moved from hellinois, immediately south of chitcago, to rural TN. A trip to the store is 20 min drive. Yes, over time, I'm sure I will eventually be ahead.

Yes, the kit arrived and the bolts look like good quality as you would get from Fastenal or similar. I will try a few nuts on bolts to verify, and if it's not quality, I will be sure to post. What I mean by that is in my trade, I worked for a global company. Unfortunately, a lot of their material comes from china. I can't tell you how horrible china blister packed hardware is to try to finger thread together. It gets me extremely frustrated often. Kinda like box store china pipe fittings vs. god ole USA made.
So far, I'm impressed.

Aggravation is more costly than the trip to the stores for me, no less my round trip is an hour. So add a half hour for the disturbance to my project's efficiency/cadence and I lose 90 minutes in total for every hardware store trip and approx $5 in gas/ins/tires. So 5 bolts costing me $1 ends up $6 .
God forbid I go to Home Depot for hardware, I end spending >$100 .

Just curious . . . . is this for a business or a home shop ? I cant imagine ever needing something like that and I own a machine shop :)
This is a side gig shop. I was an auto mechanic when younger, then owned a trucking/excavating/construction business for 18 years. In that time, I became a weldor, so now I do side work on mostly pick up trucks to semi's and heavy equipment. Mainly maintenance and repair/fabrication. I have a regular job, so I don't take on rush jobs or anything that will tie up equipment longer than the customer is willing to allow. I just moved here, so I have few customers, but the outlook is decent.

Yes, same.

But I'm not needing bolts and nuts often enough to justify stocking a month's wages on them.

Can somebody post a pic of what "$1200-$4500" in hardware looks like in person? I have two units in my shop for organizing hardware into, but the hardware needs sorting by type, material, etc. now. I have buckets and boxes of random bolts, hooks, nuts, washers, etc.

I have been contemplating just ordering a few hundred washers, bolts, nuts, etc in common sizes I use for different farm/home applications so I can find hardware easily when I need it and don't waste my time cobbling something half-assed together to get the job done.

After looking at the Bolts and Nuts page, I think it would be pretty easy to spend a few hundred bucks and feel like I made out like a bandit!

Refer to post #6 , likely 1000 lbs, use your imagination. This cabinet is not anchored to the wall, so opening more than 2 draws at one time is out of the question ; as is I have 2 slabs of steel ( about 140lbs) under the bottom drawer to partial counter weight open drawers .

I would suggest going to TSC, buying by the pound, if only spending a few hundred. If you buy the kits, you will get quite a few very large bolts

I haven't opened the bags yet because I'm not positive on the permanent location of the bins. If you look on the page basically you can see a pic of the two 40 pocket bins. I think I had 3 or 4 empty pockets left over. I normally use 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 5/8, so that is what I expect to replenish. Sometimes 5/16 and 3/4. I can't remember ever buying a 7/16, but I will use most of them up where I can, and just keep minimal for those certain times I need one. It is way more than I need, but I probably would have spent more buying the bins separate and a hand picked assortment of just what I need. The difference in price between grade 5 and 8 was minimal, only $20 I think. Unfortunately, most everything is going to metric, so depending on my upcoming needs, I will decide on that assortment later.
