After I saw some of the clocks made out of old wheels in the other thread, I was curious what else old wheels are good for. Has anybody made a hose reel out of one? I've seen wheel tables before, but that's about all that I can think of right now.

I'm assuming you're talking about aluminum or otherwise 'fancy' wheels.
The aforementioned clocks and hose hangers come immediately to mind. There are the tables and chairs made from stacking empty rims I've seen before. If you had enough of them, driveway edging?

I have an old 15x8 steel wheel mounted on my pump house to roll the hose up on. It doesn't rotate, it just acts as a hose hanger.
I got the idea when I was a kid, and the cool old neighbor guy made one. He added a semi-circular piece of aluminum riveted to the front flange of the wheel to create a "well" for storing hose nozzles, etc.
He was always building stuff and recycling automotive components into something else. Gate hinges made from old ball joins, for example. Greasable, even.

A nice big steel wheel makes a great base for a bench grinder stand.

I've made a number of hose and extension cord hangers out of old car wheels. I use the older ones that are riveted together. I drill out the rivets and drive the center out. Then I cut the rim in half and weld on mounting tabs. A little rattle can red to match my other fabricated shop gizmos and I am good to go.

Hose hangers, Power lead hangers. I have even seen two wheels made into car stands.

Ahh, I see.
I was picturing them cut in half the other way, i.e., split down the center...which didn't make sense.

Hmm, hadn't thought about that, I have a hub from a '94 Chrysler LHS that the alignment shop said was bad after I hit a curb. I saved it for one end of a rotisserie I was going to build, then bought one.
Only problem, you'd have to disconnect the hose from the wall to roll it up, those ones designed for it have a fitting designed to take water to the reel. Sorta defeats the purpose.

I made a ***** launcher base out of an old tractor wheel. Laid the wheel down on an old piece of plywood and poured concrete into it. Shoved a J-bolt into the concrete and hooked a lug hole. The launcher bolts right down onto the J-bolt. It works better than shoving the feet of the launcher into the ground, and better yet cost exactly ZERO.
