I'd like to start this tread about using tools for other things. Like using a wrench as a door handle, etc.

LOL, love that photo.

Seems most of my vintage wrenches were used as voltage testers, at some point...

I use a Heely's tool for prying off delicate trim pieces, like simulated wood grain strips, vents, etc. Its damn near impossible to do any damage, like knicks or scratches.

FYI, Heely's are the shoes with wheels in the heels.

Oh yeah, another thing; when I spray paint engine parts, I use a Map Pro torch. The torch is intended to heat things up "so I'm not really sure if this applies to this thread," But... Most of you may be scratching your head right now. Painting and a torch???

Yeah, seriously try it. I heat the part up, and when you spray it the paint will pretty much instantly cure. And, it will be safe to touch in a few minutes. Plus it prevents runs, and seems to make the paint much more durable versus air dried. I found that this really only works with Dupli-Color paints though.

I'd venture a guess that most screwdrivers are used FAR more often as pry bars or gasket scrapers, etc.

Sorry no photos-I don't use my screwdrivers in this manner-at least not often. :)

Any way to leave some of the personalizing marks from Gpaw? Maybe a couple of small tools of his trade so that your daughter can keep the memories. Good thing you do.

It mostly just needs a good cleaning (not refinishing). Im even hoping to keep the origional felt. It needs airing out and maybe some fabreeze. It was in his workshop at the coast so it has a bit of a damp/mustyness too it.

My small apt/shop kitchen only had one drawer, so i improvised with some craigslist Kennedy machinist boxes.

And here's the control to the vent fan in the shop. It was in there when I moved in.
