Bought a fan at the flea market for $5. Was just going to hang it by the wire handle, but after seeing the nicer fan in the house, I decided I could make a similar base from 1/2 conduit. I used a conduit bender and a vice to flatten the mounting points. Works pretty good!

nice job. I actually found one in the trash almost identical, broken base as well, but the speed control also was broken. I hung it on the wall (not that talented with the conduit bender) and used wired a plug to the side into a HF router speed controller to make the speed adjustable. it hangs behind my woodstove and I can adjust the speed to blow the heat around as needed...
