Someone is selling a used Lincoln buzzbox I want to pick up...

Older arc welder. It worked the last time it was used, about 8 years ago. Have some rod to go with it. Asking $110. No trades.

However, I am not able to test it due to no 240v outlet in his house. Does it worth the risk?

They are dang near bullet proof, but $110 is more along the lines of a working, can be tested machine IMHO. I use to have one, a super old all copper one. Paid $40 IIRC, couldn't test it out. Had newer leads, but the machine looked rough.

I wouldn't risk $110 for just the AC225 machine. If it was a AC/DC 225 machine and the leads were in good condition, proper plug, yea that is one thing but..... :dunno:

An AC welder is just a transformer. You should be able to test it with an ohm meter. Continuity on the windings and no short to ground on the primary side. A visual inspection of the windings and switch contacts should do the rest. Some AC welders have a movable core to adjust current but you should be able to check that out visually. I know this isn't a complete test but small AC welders are tough little guys. Last comment, I think the price is a little high.
