Nice score! I picked an older IR compressor about 1 1/2 yrs ago- I just actually came in from getting mine going for the first time in its permanent spot. Takes awhile to build up and has a slow leak somewhere. Filling it up right now.
Seller said it needed a little work-paid $75 for it:beer:

Can't download pix right now-I'll give it a try later

I just started using a 80gal Westinghouse from 1955 in my shop. Its a little slow filling up, but I have it set at 155psi and it starts refilling at about 120psi. A big upgrade over my old 20gal compressor. Plus for $100 I can't complain :)

That's a great cast iron pump...easily rebuildable and will last another lifetime.

Check the tank...have local jurisdictional boiler inspector do an ultra sonic test on it...you might have to tote it to him for a free courtesy test.....sound lowest part or tank for remaining thickness and compare it to top of tank.

They rust from inside out-oil or no oil-they rust and thin...then they rupture and go straight up thru the roof..yup, they do and as a Boiler Inspector I've investigated many that have.

As a guide, my current employer, the feds, smartly give air compressor tanks a 30 year life where they then demand we replace them...their instruction is inked in Human blood and machinery downtime.
