Used Craftsman Jointer

I am looking at a used Craftsman jointer with stand thatis for sale locally. From the pictures, it looks clean and well-kept and for sale for $150. What should I look for in testing it? I have not used one since my high school shop days many years ago, and I am an infrequent woodworker and not a cabinet maker. I will test it to see if the blades are sharp, no nicks, and the cut is square. Anything else? Are parts and manuals available for them? I do not know the age or model number yet. Thanks in advance.

If it's similar to the attached pic I would pass on it. There is no handle adjustment for the outfeed table (only the infeed) and it is tedious to adjust the blades. Plus it's not very long. Look for a Jet or Grizzly.

It is model 113206932 I do not know the age of it. Owners says in very good condition. As I wrote earlier, I am only an occasional woodworker, so I am still considering it. Nevertheless, I am appreciate the good advice.

I would also agree. Had one, sold it after I purchased one with an adjustable outfeed.

The 113.206932 is exactly like my pic and the style I would avoid. Nonetheless if you still consider it don't offer more than $50 for it. There are tons of those crappy jointers for sale for $50 or less.

Well, if it does not work well, then it does not matter the price. I looked at new Jet and Grizzly. There are some bench top Grizzly models maybe I could justify for my limited use and budget. For the floor models, the shipping alone is more than this used Craftsman, but an inaccurate machine is worse than worthless. Thanks for the advice.

Bookman, how far are you from Ft Collins CO? I know you are in the middle of nowhere, but there are some decent used machines if you can drive a few miles. Here's a Delta for $150:

It is a bit over 300 miles from Kearney to Fort Collins, so probably not worth it unless I was going to Denver for some other reason. I am about two hours from Lincoln and three hours from Omaha. I have gone this long without one that I have to be realistic about my needs. If the right one came up at the right price, I would consider it. However, right now i do not have any projects in mind. Thanks for the information.
