I have the opportunity to buy a used four post lift for about $2500, the guy is going to upgrade to a two poster.

I have never had a lift but I just can't see the large advantage of a two post.

The four post is easier to drive onto and it comes with an air jack that mounts between the ramps. you need an air compressor for the air locks too.

I Guess that you can only lift one end at a time with the axle jack but oh well. do you think it is a good deal? Its a german name but i don't remember what it is. it is supposed to be a good unit the guy says and they haven't used it too much.

I have dealt with the guy in business stuff for about 10 years and he is pretty straight up.

Any opinions much appreciated

A new 4 post isn't much more than his asking price and that's delivered to your door. If you need to disassemble his, move it and then reassemble, I'd pass. With a new one you'd also be getting the warrantee.

:wtf: The rolling bridge jack alone costs about $750-$1000, depending on how much it will lift! Doesn't sound like a bad deal at all.

The price is great but do consider how worn the components may be. If the lift was used in a commercial setting that gave it a lot of use, you may have to replace the pump or cylinder down the road and that will easily raise the price of ownership, equal to or maybe even higher than simply buying a new lift. With a new purchase, you would also get a warranty as well as perhaps a lifetime of use, that's if you're going to use it in a regular residential garage. Anyway, it's nice to have these type of problems. Best of luck with your decision.

What is the brand and model of the lift. Without this information, there is no way to know if it is a good deal, great deal, or just over priced. Your question is like asking what a 2005 car is worth, without knowing the details of what you are buying.

another thing to consider is going by your user name if you have a crew cab truck some 4 post lifts are a little short for them. I want a crew cab Dually and that is playing into my lift decision.

The make is a Stenhoj made in Denmark, Model DS4, I will need to go back and measure the length to see of my truck will fit, need about 190", not sure about that one, There was a cylinder replaced not too long ago on it, they maintain the shi ←←← heck out of their equipment though.
