Dont see much matco around me but recently ran into some. Whats the going prices for the common stuff, i.e. sockets, extensions, rats, drivers etc.

Pretty familiar with used SO and Cman pricing but this is a bit of an anommaly, Im leaning toward somewhere between the two for prices but Im not 100% any insight from the group?

Around here SO stuff goes for < 10% off of retail!! People see SO and go crazy. Cman goes for @ 50% of retail. Any of the other stuff goes much cheaper. I think its a name recognition thing. Most of the folks dont know what these tools cost or tool qaulity, they're just paying for a name. Went to an estate sale a while back where the 1/2 in Cman and a 1/2 in /Williams were listed at $15 but the Matco was $5. Bought the Matco and Williams left the Cman for the buzzards.

Matco, for some reason, is much more popular in some areas and virtually non-existent in others. I think this has something to do with the fact Matco hasn't been around nearly as long as the other 3 major tool truck providers. For example, I had an Uncle who worked at a major paper mill between Cincinnati and Dayton. They got a weekly visit from the Mac, Snap-On and Cornwell dealers, but not from Matco. In fact, he had never heard of Matco, let alone seen one of their trucks until I told him about them myself. If you're in an area where Matco doesn't have much dealer presence, you might be able to pick some up for very cheaply-more cheaply than it really should bring. The other side of that coin is if you're trying to sell Matco in an area where it isn't very well known, you're going to have trouble getting a fair price.

Around where I live, SK/Proto/Armstrong are not very well known. So when you see any at the local pawn shop or flea market, they usually bring LESS than C'man. Because the dumb, SOB selling the stuff just KNOWS that C'man is top of the line-and charges less for the "no name stuff".

As to what areas Matco has a strong dealer presence in and thus is well-known, I can't give you an answer there. In my hometown, I think we have more Matco dealers than any of the other 3 trucks, but I'm not positive.

Dixieland flee market? I wish I could get down there more often and with money in my pockets. Lately though both Cman and SO, people want stupid money for. I would pay more for Matco than Cman but not much more.
Since the fire I would like to pick up some used extensions and specialty wrenches, but for what people want for use Cman stuff I can get it cheaper online at sears.

Dixieland is a **** shoot, that place will confuse me to no end on some thing and other things will be a steal. Its really too bad the guy who manages it is a douche.

We do have Matco dealers here but there tools dont show up much at the swap or pawn shop around here. And when I do find some its just mixed in with the odd ball tools no one seems to recognize the name. they dont demand a high price.
I only have maybe 5 sockets and a couple wrench's out of all the stuff I have. most sellers set aside the snap on mac and Cornwall as the best and think craftsman should be worth all most retail.
Around here you can find proto SK Eassco And some of the older brands industro herbrand billings and the such pretty cheep.
