Put down a couple pounds of Atrazine, a little Zidua SC and some SureStart and you won't have anything growing for a while ..... Heck if you're going through the trouble mix in a little Anthem and some Maverick to give it a little extra kick. Of course none of that stuff can be found at Walmart so good luck lol

Or just go to Home Depot and get some Roundup like the rest of the people that want to kill grass. If chemicals are handled and used appropriately they're just fine to use. Roundup alone has no residual so you'll need to find something labeled as "long lasting" or something like that to keep things from coming back.

In the woods of the Virginias, the crude oil just seeps out of the ground.
Many places just ooze oil. Nature is just flourishing all around.
There is a place and reason for everything, and one must use common
sense. But going full off the chart with self invented righteousness is
not going to win an argument or change the world.

When I was a kid I remember the county oiling dirt roads to knock the dust down.
They did this at our campground too.

I walked behind the truck barefoot one day thinking it was funny for some kid like reason that my feet were getting caked with oily dust .

I forgot about doing this and ruined the sleeping bag I slept in that night.

I have used old motor oil to paint wooden fences, you can watch the termites crawl out when the oil hits them.

I've tried the mix of white vinegar and salt. It does work to some extent but not long term enough. The variety of spring weeds are stronger. The ants go crazy when sprayed and they stop moving after a few seconds.

Iodized or non-iodized salt?

You need a stronger vinegar.

Enough salt kills anything. Just ask the Romans

Iodine not necessary

somebody told me vinegar, will vinegar kille grass? apple cider or white
Vinegar will kill grass, but the stuff you buy from stores is pretty weak. You can get highly concentrated vinegar on amazon. Mix it with salt in your sprayer until the salt is dissolved. I have a 4 gallon sprayer, and use 1 gal vinegar, and 1 cup of table salt, mixed with water. It will kill grass/weeds for a few years. If your trying to kill brush or saplings, use 2 cups of salt. Yes, oil will kill grass. Especially when mixed with diesel fuel. Back in the day, my grandpa would just dump it out around his shop. Nothing would grow there. Stop by any old diesel mechanic shop and you will see the same.

Don't water you grass with oil, that's silly. Dump it down rat/mouse holes. It'll dispatch the rodents and put the oil back in the ground where it came from for future generations to extract and enjoy.
Yes, we'll all enjoy it in our drinking water! Good job.

My grampa used to dump used oil along the fenceline, where the oleanders were. “WERE”. The reason I say “were” is because 25 years of doing that, and they were HUGE and HEALTHY. When he passed away in 2013, we stopped that practice, and the oleanders died shortly after.

Weird how that works.
